This one is tough. Our group of 12 had a fantastic stay, but there are some very real issues that people should know before renting.
Fantastic features:
1) The view and sounds of waves
2) Very spacious home and lawn
3) Incredible lawn and fire pit for late night drinks, laughs and soaking in the outdoors.
4) Well stocked kitchen with tons of silverware/plates/glasses; definitely built for a crowd.
5) New (or newish) appliances in the kitchen, with 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, and a huge pantry. Also 2 washers and dryers.
5) Very clean interior
Problematic:
1) **Accessibility of this home is for the able-bodied**. Our group was very relieved we had no children or elderly with us, as you *must* climb stairs, and there are lot of tripping spots of step-ups and step-downs. My parents would have really struggled with the uneven exterior stairs, lack of handrails (there is a rope), and uneven stonework underfoot. I have since been told by the owner that this is up to the Wisconsin inspection standard, and in the end, it worked for us, but consider who you are bringing.
2) Easy access to the beach does not exist. One must climb down a tumble of cement blocks to swim or kayak. We could, and we enjoyed a good swim, but it's not for everyone. Putting kayaks in would have been a multi-person venture.
3) Recent water damage left us with swaths of missing carpet, drywall and *exposed* tack strip that we had to cover with towels and tape. No way to contact owner given the well-warned connectivity issues. Once you are there, you are on your own.
4) Contractor left stacks of paint, chemicals and pesticide on the floor of the game room. I was told once we left that this should have been put away, but it wasn't. Again, nothing to be done about it once we were there.
5) Projector did not work. Owner states this is the first they have heard of it, but we had no use for our stay.
6) Voluminous dead bugs on the exterior windows, walls, and Tiki bar.
7) One bedroom has a hot tub in it. This is not in the listing because it is not intended for use, but it is still filled with hot water, giving the room a chlorine-musty smell.
8) New owner says they are working to update, but the property is very dated and visibly worn. The main room couches were deeply stained to the point none of us wanted to sit on them, and we truly are NOT fussy people.
Summary: There is work to be done. I would recommend following the comments to assure improvements are made.
