This house is cute, on a mountain, with great views. Unfortunately, we left 3 days early because we couldn’t get our Toyota 4Runner with snow tires up to the house even though there were only a few inches of snow on the ground. We asked the host before booking if tire chains were absolutely necessary, and sent along the details of our rental SUV. They assured us, we’d be fine. After sliding backwards down the road, spinning on the corner and narrowly avoiding sliding off a cliff, we abandoned our car and had to walk 1/2 a mile up to the house. It was terrifying. Furthermore the the description of the home does not emphasize just how remote this area is. We called the non-emergency numbers for the County roads department, the state troopers and the police to inform them the car was there; all were closed. We finally called 9-1-1, and they had one person on duty all night who was just responding to accidents. We didn’t feel safe so we left the next morning. The hostess was not particularly sympathetic and didn’t offer us any compensation for the stay. Don’t stay here unless you’re prepared to rough it.
