Booked our stay for January 19-22. Flight was delayed and we arrived after midnight. Got to the apartment around 2am. Dead pigeon by the stairs, dead lizard in the hallway. When we entered the apartment and turned in the light, the roaches scattered. Messaged the owner and he didn’t reply. After an hour with VRBO, they informed us it was a matter between us and the owner. VRBO told us to give the owner until 7am to respond. We couldn’t sleep so we stayed up until 7am. Called VRBO and they said the owner wasn’t responding. They said to give the owner until 5pm. We never unpacked, didn’t shower, not even brushed our teeth. We left. We spent the whole day out. At 5pm we called VRBO. They once again reiterated that they couldn’t communicate with the owner, they said we had to resolve it with him. So I told VRBO he was ignoring our messages and VRBO said there was nothing they could do. So we had nowhere to go. I called a friend who let us stay in their home. I’ve been trying to get a refund since we didn’t stay at the apartment we had booked and VRBO said that was up to the owner, who continues to ignore us. DO NOT RENT THIS APARTMENT. I am extremely disappointed at VRBO as well for their lack of service.
