2/10 Terrible

This is not a private property - by any standard
The house is very nice, but is attached to two others (with another being built) so therefore the garden and pool are shared.
People were working in the garden every day - including noisy power tools - early in the morning some days. The gardener was selling eggs from the property, so different people were visiting often.
The cleaner came in to change beds on our third day of 11 (not again though) and took all morning so we couldn’t get ready to go out. Perhaps we could have asked her to leave but we didn't share any language.
The house was very cold in February, despite the days being mid 20s - but a notice stated we were expected to pay extra for heating. We had to find a place selling wood for the fireplace, and spent a lot on that.
On one day, six people came into the garden, including sitting in an area we thought was private. We could not use the garden - again a notice in the guest book stated it was not for private use.
The water for the kitchen was controlled by a pump with a switch in another house - so sometimes we had no water if they had turned the pump off - one day this was for the whole day into the late evening.
The pool was filthy and unusable, the area around the pool very dangerous and on one day the workmen left rubbish and tools around which meant that even sitting there would not have been pleasant.
Perhaps the most annoying thing was that the property is fitted with CCTV - over which we had no control. My children were playing in full view of the cameras and I don't know where or with whom the footage can be found.
The property is accessed from the main road through a gate - which every day somebody came and closed. It was very dangerous to stop on the road and get out to open the gate. We tried leaving it open for safety, yet no matter what time of day, somehow it was closed. I assume this was seen on the CCTV by a neighbour.
One morning I went out for five minutes to drop off the rubbish about 500m away, and got back to find the gate closed. Another morning, I went for a walk and then had to climb over the gate to get back in as I hadn't taken a key.
The road is noisy, there are dogs barking everywhere, and the property is frequented by too many people.
If you are happy sharing everything with other people, then it could be the house for you... otherwise, there are so many properties on the island, just keep looking.
