Wunderschön restaurierte historische Gästekabine der Park Saddle Horse Company

Diese idyllische Hütte, die in der Region wegen ihres urigen Aussehens als "Lebkuchenhaus" bekannt ist, wurde ursprünglich als Lodge für Gäste der Park Saddle Horse Company auf der -X6 Ranch während der Blütezeit der Pferdereise gebaut. Zeitungen, die in die Risse um die ursprünglichen Fenster gestopft wurden, stellten das Datum des Baus auf ungefähr 1938, was es zum neuesten Gebäude auf der Ranch machen würde! Die Park Saddle Horse Company war der einzige Konzessionär für Reisen im Park vor der weit verbreiteten Nutzung des Automobils, und der -X6 war als größte Pferderanch der Welt mit über 2.000 Kopf und 20.000 Morgen bekannt.

Die Hütte liegt westlich des Westufers des Duck Lake und ist nur 8 km von Babb (Richtung Eingang zum Many Glacier) und 19 km von St . Mary (der Haupteingang zum Glacier National Park an der Going-to-the-Sun Road). Der Duck Lake ist nur einen Katzensprung entfernt und auch in den Angel- oder Landschaftsabteilungen ist nichts los!

Das Innere der Hütte wurde 2017 von den Eigentümern liebevoll restauriert und bewahrt den rustikalen Charme des Äußeren mit allen modernen Annehmlichkeiten des Zuhauses. Brandneue isolierte Fenster werden mit Nut- und Federbrettern verkleidet, die von den Wänden entfernt werden, wenn der ursprüngliche Schornstein freigelegt wird. Hartholzböden bedecken alle Räume und Flure mit Ausnahme der neuen Fliesen im Badezimmer. Alle brandneuen Armaturen in Bad und Küche ersetzen einige der schickeren Renovierungen der 1970er Jahre!

Der Wohnbereich der Kabine verfügt über einen brandneuen, energieeffizienten Propanofen, der den gesamten Raum angenehm warm hält, während jedes Schlafzimmer und das Badezimmer über individuelle Thermostate und Wärmequellen für den Komfort unserer Gäste verfügt. Ein Dachbodenventilator hält den Raum unten an den heißesten Sommertagen schön kühl. Die Küche verfügt über einen Eichentisch und -stühle, einen Kühlschrank, eine Mikrowelle, eine brandneue Modellreihe von Jenn Aire und ein großes, benutzerfreundliches Waschbecken. Das Wohnzimmer hat zwei der bequemsten Schaukelstühle, die Sie je genossen haben.

Die Schlafzimmer sind mit brandneuen Betten und Matratzen ausgestattet - der Meister hat ein Queensize-Bett und das Schlafgemach verfügt über ein Paar Zwillinge. Jedes Zimmer verfügt über USB-Anschlüsse in den Steckdosen zum einfachen Aufladen des Telefons. Jedes Zimmer verfügt über Fenster mit Blick auf den Glacier National Park und die Rocky Mountain Front. Das Wohnzimmer verfügt über eine Wand aus Fenstern mit Blick auf die unverwechselbare Form des Chief Mountain, die sich über der alten Sattelscheune der Ranch erhebt.

Great location to East Entrance of Glacier
Very comfortable historic cabin in a quiet neighborhood with views of Glacier National Park. Peaceful and safe away from the fray and traffic and a quick drive to St Mary’s entrance; it is a great jump off point. Our host was wonderful and the one time we reached out for some direction he responded immediately. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend the cabin. Thank you for a great place to stay. Just what we needed!
We had a wonderful stay at this property a few weeks ago. It was perfect for my wife and I and our two adult children. The cabin is bigger than it appears on the photographs. Beautifully restored with nice understated modern comfort. The bedrooms are ample size with room for suitcases and moving around. The bathroom was well appointed and has everything you might need. The living room type area is two really nice comfortable recliners. If you wanted to gather together, there is a nice sized kitchen table easily suitable for four. Kitchen has what you need to cook cook up some basics. we had great weather so we spent most early evenings outside in the chairs and hammock. It’s on a gravel country road and you can hear cattle or horses nearby. Sunsets over the mountain range were wonderful. It overlooks a barn in some fields and there’s a small amount of property to stroll around on. We had pretty good stargazing although the moon was pretty bright. You might have some challenges finding the house if you arrive in the dark since there aren’t street lights and cell service is pretty spotty. We were happy to unplug so it wasn’t a bother at all. There were a few restaurants nearby and St. Mary’s was a short drive down the road as well as the park entrance. The hosts were great. It was the first stop on our weeklong hiking adventure at glacier. Perfect place to decompress from daily work life and service homebase for our hiking. If we didn’t live in Ohio we would be happy to visit regularly. Great stay!

We are two couples 50 and stayed for 5 days at the cabin. We did not have a lot of choices of accommodations on the East side of Glacier National Park and to be honest we were wondering if a cabin would be comfortable enough given our age. Also the period we stayed there happens to be a very hot one in August and we knew there was no AC at the cabin. We were pleasantly surprised how the placement of the windows and of the trees around the house keep a very comfortable temperature in the house during the day and at night; without the noise and the draft of an AC unit; we may add. Although useful many times, none of us are big fans of AC. In our opinion, no AC unit should not be a reason not to book this place. We are highly recommend the cabin; the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The proximity to The Many Glacier area of the national park is a bonus. A tip for future gusts is to try the brisket at the Montana’s Duck Lake Lodge, which is about 5 min drive from the cabin on the way to the Park. For us it was the best we ever had and the food felt like homemade. The host was very prompt helpful and accommodating and contributed to our very pleasant stay at the cabin.

Gingerbread House
Chief Mountain House was our base while exploring Glacier National Park. Location was convenient for all our activities, including a day trip up to Waterton in Alberta. The cabin itself had comfortable beds, hot showers, and kitchen/bath necessities. It was clean and blissfully quiet. We were impressed with the updates that were done while preserving the rustic charm of the historic building. Although we were mostly “unplugged,” their new Wi-Fi and Verizon cell booster came in handy for checking on reservations or tickets, and sending pictures to family back home.

Excellent views of Glacier!
About as close to the Many Glacier entrance as one can get. Only 12 or so miles from St Marys entrance, which are two of the best hiker parks. BAlthough the house was small, it was very comfortable for my wife and I. The internet worked great. Other than no washer and dryer, this house had everything we needed for our 7 night stay. KOA before St Marys entrance was convenient to wash clothes. 2 sisters restaurant, cattle baron (steaks and seafood) and pizza restaurant connected all had great food.

The Prefect Cabin
This is the prefect cabin we needed for our stay in Montana. It’s close to the St. Mary and Many Glacier entrances for Glacier National Park. It’s a quite area and a great place to relax.

Wonderful Getaway
This cabin is the perfect spot for a quiet little getaway. It's location is super convenient to both Many Glacier and St. Mary yet is tucked away from it all. The cabin was super comfortable and as described and we found the lack of wifi and cell service to be a surprisingly welcome escape. The cherry on top was watching a meteor shower from outside our final night. We hope to be back soon!

Beautifully restored historic cabin
I wasn’t sure about the location of this property for our Glacier NP vacation but ended up loving it. It’s 15 minutes from St. Mary’s (Going to the Sun Rd entrance) and maybe 30 minutes to Many Glacier. It was nice to have a quiet, secluded place to stay because Many Glacier was very crowded. Has a a great mountain view and lots of birds which we love. We saw three Great Horned Owls on the way out to the main road as well as Gilde Flickers from the cabin window. Nearby Duck Lake had loons so we heard them calling daily. Cabin is beautiful and comfortable. Highly recommend this property.

Chief Mountain House was the perfect retreat to return to each day after dealing with the crowds in the park. Very close to St. Mary and Many Glacier entrances, but feels like you are a world away. Amazing views!

It was the perfect basecamp to explore the East side of Glacier NP. Easy commute. Great views and sunsets with Chief Mountain as the protagonist. Our children really enjoyed the hammock and the grass by the house to play with the ball.

This Is The Perfect Getaway!
We wanted a secluded location close to Glacier National Park and this house is perfect for 3-4 people. It's on a quiet unpaved road and is adjacent to lots of open fields and woods. The only thing that could have made it better was if there were 3 comfortable sitting chairs instead of just two and if there was an oven. We do like to cook alot of our meals at a cabin, and having only a microwave and stove top was a little limiting. Other than that it's a fantastic choice if you're looking to tour Glacier but want to get away from crowded lodging and relax.

Excellent jumping-off point for Glacier Nat'l Park's east side
What a lovely place to come back to after a long day in the park! The owners were quick and proactive about a cleaning snafu with the trash, and resolved it before we even realized it was an issue. Communication was excellent, everything was clean and tidy, and what a cozy place! We would recommend this to anyone else looking for a place that's close to the east side of Glacier Park. Excellent all around!

Adorable cabin in the mountains!
Thanks for a wonderful place to come back to after our adventures in the Many Glacier area! The kids loved the bunk beds and the hammock! We were hoping to use the bocce set but ran out of time. The views of Chief Mountain were lovely, and dinner at nearby Two Sisters was great! We loved spending the evenings relaxing in the recliners looking at the mountains.

Great Cabin!
We spent three nights here while visiting the east side of Glacier and Waterton parks. The cabin was a perfect place for us. It was within a short distance to the parks and was very clean. Although small, it had all the modern amenities we could ask for. Our family of 4 never felt crowded. We enjoyed watching the sunsets and playing games after long days of hiking. I loved the fact that we were “disconnected” from our phones for a few days. It’s great for our teenagers to experience that once in awhile. I would highly recommend this wonderful place.

Peaceful Little Remodeled Old Farmhouse
This is an old farmhouse/cabin that has been nicely remodeled on the inside. It is in a quiet rural setting in a very small town. The only life we saw there were cows. There are limited services in the town - not much more than a small grocery store and a gas station were open when we were there. If you plan to cook, bring groceries with you. The water for the house is from a well and it is on a septic tank. The water supply is limited so you have to space showers and dish washing. The one bathroom has a fairly small shower. The kitchen is small, but has the bare necessities. There is no internet or TV. There was a propane heater for heat. The master bedroom is small. It was fairly convenient to the Many Glacier are in Glacier National Park where we spent our time. The pricing on VRBO was very misleading because it came up in our search at a fairly reasonable price, but fees are stacked on top that you don't find out about until you open another screen.

Great cabin near Glacier National Park
We stayed at this beautiful cabin while visiting Montana to hike in Glacier National Park. The cabin has wood floors and nicely restored woodwork throughout. The kitchen, while small, had everything we needed. The beds in the two bedrooms were comfortable, and we enjoyed relaxing in the two reclining chairs in the evenings after our hikes. The cabin was a good base for our drives to both the Many Glacier and St. Mary entrances to Glacier.

Cute cozy cabin close to Glacier!
My friends and I had an amazing time! The cabin had a well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, and was in a prime location for us visiting Glacier National Park. They had someone available for us to call in case we had any questions which was very helpful. Most of us did not have service on our cell phones and there isn’t any WiFi or landline available, but we came prepared with screenshots of directions and maps. However, it is very easy to navigate once you arrive and there are general stores, gas stations, and small eateries nearby. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit!!
