We’ve been coming to BHI for years and have never stayed in a place this poorly maintained. To begin, the golf carts were very old and rusted. The charger stopped working for the larger golf cart very randomly. Also the back seat on the larger golf cart completely detached while parked at the Point/beach from wind. It was already damaged and seemed to be coming off from rust/wear and tear but didn’t expect wind to take it completely off. While we enjoyed our stay, I do feel like the house needs a lot of work and some simple repairs/updates could've made our stay much more enjoyable - most of the interior doors don't lock and one of them wouldn't latch closed which was an issue as we have small children, the pack n play provided had what appeared to be a large brown urine stain on the side - maybe from a dog? - it smelled horrible and we ended up having to get a rental last minute which was very stressful, the beach chairs are old and rusted and the umbrella does not stay in the sand - wind kept blowing it away, etc., the ceiling fan in one of the rooms would just stop spinning and had to be manually pushed to get going, the mattress pads had blood stains on them which I noticed while stripping before leaving (we just changed and dressed babies on the bed under a pad - this particular bed was never used by us), comforters had large brown stains, a random dirty sock was left under our bed, the washer had mold around the rubber inside and had an odor.... I did mention a thing or two to the maintenance guy and he seemed aware of the issues with no intent to repair them. These things did upset us as the week went on and made it a difficult stay with small children. For the amount of money we paid, We would've liked to see more updated appliances, clean and safe baby gear (if being offered) and newer sturdy beach equipment at the very least. Anyway, again, we enjoyed our stay but these things were disappointing. Upon leaving I texted my concerns to the rental agency with no response (otherwise they had responded to me in a timely manner throughout the week). We liked being beachfront but honestly, I think we would've preferred to be a few rows back for the same cost, in a home that's better taken care of. I was confused by some of the positive reviews but realized once we left that they offer an Amazon gift card to people who leave reviews. Because of this incentive, I’m sure people feel compelled to be positive regarding their stay.
