Montana Paraiso is an absolutely spectacular property. My family has traveled to Costa Rica from the US for 15 years, and this area is our favorite. The proximity to waterfalls, beaches, restaurants, and hiking is perfect, and the area is quiet and full of wildlife.
The check in process was easy. Paul, the owner, is helpful in the weeks leading up to the trip, which was great. Adolfo showed us the property and told us that he was available for anything we might need.
The property is a five minute drive from the coastal highway. Even though you do need 4WD to access the property, the road is in great condition, smooth and graded, even after a heavy rain storm.
Arriving at the property, the two houses are literally floating over the amazing Costa Rica valley. The view is unparallleled... you can see the ocean, mountains, and amazing sunsets. The landscaping is gorgeous, with flowers, palms, and lush trees nearby that offer dappled shade.
The house is clean, with air conditioning that works great. We also loved opening up the sliding doors in the morning and evening to enjoy the mountain breezes. The kitchen is well-stocked with spices, dry goods, and plenty of items for cooking and serving meals. All of the appliances work wonderfully well. The couch is new and comfortable, so we were able to relax inside in the evening until it was time for bed.
The pool is so much fun! The waterfall was a great feature, and we spent an hour or two every day swimming back and forth, enjoying the time to cool off in the warm weather. The cabana and outdoor furniture became our favorite area to relax and read in the late afternoons.
The wildlife in the area is worth mentioning. We heard the haunting calls of howler monkeys every day, white faced capuchins came by in the trees near the house, and we had a visiting coati and agouti stroll through the gardens. All of these visitors are harmless, and it’s amazing to see wildlife up close.
I love seeing birds in Costa Rica and was thrilled to see so many amazing birds at this property: Violaceous Trogon, Scarlet Macaws, Great Curassow, Green Honeycreeper, Blue Dacnis, Golden-Hooded Tanager, and many other tanagers, orioles, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, woodcreepers, flycatchers, and manakins.
My husband and I loved this trip. We visited the Uvita Waterfall twice, Nauyaca Waterfalls, the Pavon Waterfall, and Ventanas Beach. We went out to eat and had amazing food. What an incredible property!
