This Fair Harbor cottage is on a great block with dune grass all around. The central rooms and screened porch are charming, vintage Fire Island, boho-surf style. The tiny kitchen is not easy to work in, and very disorganized, so you’ve got to put ideas of cooking like you’re used to aside and get into beach shack mode. This place calls for you to relax your expectations. It’s not very well maintained, there are traces of past renters everywhere, including trash, and debris so we did quite a bit of rearranging and tidying when we arrived. It’s great to have a separate room out back. The outdoor area is run down and swampy but you can have a good time hanging out in the house and at the beach, letting your cares slip away.
