We tried to get away from our cell phones but the neighbor complained a lot so we spent the weekend texting back & forth with the property manager. The first night - apparently the outside lights were shining into the neighbor’s bedroom, so I was asked to shut them off early. I couldn’t shut one off; it was on a sensor & shut off late. I was asked to turn the bulb (a thousand-degree floodlight bulb!)
I brought our dogs and the neighbor complained about them barking. I found out they recorded the barking so I asked for the audio file. 2 whole barks! Don’t make any noise if you want to stay here. If you have a dog, don’t let it bark. If you have a small dog, the deck does not have adequate protection; one of our shih tzus fell off 12-15 ft.
Next, the camera. Property description says it’s there; I thought it was outside. The camera is in the dining/kitchen where everyone gathers. It has a large speaker to capture audio. This was very uncomfortable. We never knew if someone was watching or listening.
Beds, shower, amenities were good. No A/C may seem okay in the mountains (we were in early June) but with huge windows it gets hot! At night it was cool. We had to close all the windows when our dogs wanted to play so we wouldn’t bother the neighbor.
I learned that even though you pay a heavy pet fee, you are not always protected. Seems like the neighbor does not like that this is a short-term rental. I had hoped the property manager would’ve been more on our side.
