We've stayed in the Shoshone, other Big Sky properties and many VRBO's around Big Sky, but those always had local property management, not Vacasa. We had 2 small issues we've never had we booked a shoshone room through Big Sky. It smelled STRONGLY like cleaning chemicals. To the point we got headaches. Also, there were some lights that weren't working. But we figured out these issues on our own, no biggie. We did have 2 issues that required help and when we called Vacasa, I was connected to someone in a call center in another country. They had such a strong accent I could hardly understand them. After we established that he couldn't help me, he said he would have the local property manager reach out. It took a while for this to happen and during the time, I was able to call the resort itself and they were kind enough to help us out, even though we didn't rent directly through them. Also they wouldn't allow us to even request a "late checkout" on our final day. We stayed here on closing weekend, so closing day was our checkout, meaning there was no one checkin in after us. But, in Vacasa's paperwork (somewhere I didn't read) it says you must request a late checkout a minimum of 2 days ahead of time. We've stayed at almost every property in big sky a decade, and never come across this. Going forward, I won't say "never", but I will try to avoid booking with a Vacasa managed property in favor of Big sky directly, or an actual local property management company.
