5 dads from the band THE KILLIGANS stayed here last weekend and had a blast getting a little time away from our busy family lives in Nebraska. We typically do an annual ski/snowboard trip as payment to ourselves for playing music all year, but the trip was on hiatus the last few years due to the pandemic.
First off, the check in process was simple and easy. All instructions were sent well in advance. Directions well laid out. No suprises. To be fair, I am very familiar with the Nederland/Peak to Peak area as I have been visiting for 20+ years. If you dont know the area, just watch the signs because there are a lot of twists and turns on the highway.
The drive from Nederland was about 7 miles and took about 10-15 minutes each time. As mentioned, tons of twists and turns but an easy, picturesque drive. We saw a big moose the first day, same moose with baby second day, and a different moose (just the rear end, while it's head was buried in a tree) the way home!
The driveway proved to be the only issue for us. I had a loaded down Suburban with some iffy 4 wheel drive (which is notoriously bad in snow regardless). The snowpack made it very slick, and the driveways turn 90degrees to the left on the way up. Once my 4 low kicked in we had no issues getting in the rest of the trip. The owner was kind enough to have the neighbor plow the driveway a little more for us and was immediately responsive when I let her know our troubles. But be aware (as the description says) you will need 4x4 or all wheel drive, or chains to get up this road if it has snow.
Inside the house, they have provided about anything you need to make yourself at home. Kitchen is fully stocked with tons of utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc. We ate downtown most of the time but did make use of the grill to make dinner one night. Coffee machine was up to par, even have a Nespresso (with pods) if that's more your style.
Bedrooms were all great with big, fluffy comforters and tons of pillows. Beds were all great. Bathrooms were all as expected, lots of room for everyone.
We appreciated the quality wifi, and cable TV. Used HULU just like we would at home. Lots of time watching shows on the massive couch at night.
Hot tub right out the back door helped us wind down the night after realizing how much older we are now after a day of skiing/snowboarding. Stars are big and bright up here.
All in all, this is a great place to stay, with top notch owners!
