Just about the perfect Grand Cayman place to be. Southerly exposure puts it on the leeward side of the island, sheltered from the prevailing (and near continuous) wind. A strip of classic, white sand beach a couple feet from your porch and about 150 yards of reef-protected swimming/snorkling water after that. Perfect.
The Boddentown location was a plus in our mind. This is where the locals actually live, insulated from the touristy bustle of 7-mile beach and the 5000-strong waves of cruise ship passengers that flood it. Plenty of local restaurants for dine-in or take-out, with a small price break for not being in tourist town.
The condo itself is roomy, with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a powder room. It’s not clear in the listing but the condo a 2-story affair, with the bedrooms 18 steps above the kitchen and living areas. So this rental is not the best for the handicapped, and if great grandma is in your travel group you might look elsewhere. Otherwise, it’s clean and comfortable.
The owner/manager is not local but was very responsive. There were the usual VRBO glitches, such as a Nest-style thermostat with an indecipherable user interface and set at 80 degrees (owner reset remotely), TP but no Kleenex, and sliding door screens that needed work (fixed while we were there). But overall there was little to complain about and much to enjoy. We’d come back in a heartbeat and have no trouble recommending this property.
