We went to Vermont for a week of leaf peeping and hiking - one couple and a dog. Booked our trip semi-last minute, and this house had our exact dates available. It's in a private community on a lake. Easy to find and get to, and check in and out was a breeze. The property, and lake, are gorgeous. Caught a couple of beautiful sunsets out of the giant lake room window (and my dog enjoyed watching the deer go by). It's a huge house with one bedroom made available to guests (and a couch for two in the TV area).
The kitchen was well stocked, bathrooms were nice, soaking tub was a nice touch too after a day of hiking. My first impression upon check in was that it was pretty clean but a sticky cabinet handle or two, and significant staining on the mattress (mattress covers are super cheap, just sayin') had me re-thinking that a little.
It's about 10 minutes away to anything you'd need (supermarket, gas, etc.) in Fair Haven. A lot of the hiking was a drive, but there were some easier, local options (we are experienced hikers) for the less ambitious. We liked getting to tour the state a bit, anyway (the drives through the farmland and mountains are BEAUTIFUL!).
All in all a very good stay, not my favorite house I've ever stayed at (I've used VRBO quite a bit) but very very enjoyable for a last minute fall foliage trip. Would recommend.
