"Three Birds" (Heron, Puffin, and Chickadee, which is the cabin we stayed in) is nestled in the woods, overlooking a little pond. With the windows fully open or sitting on the porch, you can listen to the rustling of the leaves as the gentle breezes blow, and in the evening, the croaking of the bull frogs in the pond, which was an unexpected and delightful treat. The cabin is well designed and constructed, beautifully appointed, and very clean and comfortable (including the full size bed in the loft). Round Pond is centrally located for the things we enjoy doing on our quiet, simple vacations: Pemiquid Beach, Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop (Damariscotta), reading, sitting on the porch and looking at the pond and field behind it, some cooking and some eating out, and as much Giffords ice cream as we can consume at Granite Hall in Round Pond. The hosts could not be nicer! We highly recommend "Three Birds" for a very special Maine experience.
