Overall our stay was generally pleasant, the house itself was lovely and spacious enough for our family. However, there were a few issues that need mentioning. Some of the furniture in the house could benefit from an update, there were no additional linens to make up the pull out couch and we were surprised to find that the home lacked essential supplies like toilet paper and paper towels. Given the high rental cost and the capacity to accommodate up to 16 people, we expected these basic amenities to be provided, especially when traveling.
Additionally, there were a couple of unexpected situations to be aware of for future renters. The host, Fred, who lives across the street, made unannounced visits to the property more than once. He failed to communicate with us about scheduled (?) lawn maintenance. It’s entirely reasonable to carry out yard work, but it would have been courteous to inform your guests, as we were actively using the yard while someone mowed and weed whacked around us. Fred alerted us he needed to park a vehicle in the garage of the home, he parked it in a garage adjacent to the downstairs bedroom, causing strong fumes that permeated the entire first floor. Despite our requests to move it, he initially refused, and we had to seek assistance from VRBO to resolve the issue, as it posed a potential health hazard.
The home served it's intended purpose, but the stay could have been improved through more effective communication.
