Follow the rules by the book… or else!!!
I’m still burned with how this VRBO ended. I planed to join my son & 8 of our adult friends for the weekend. At last minute, I was unable to join the group.That said, my adult son, along with his adult friends arrived on the 1st afternoon of the 2-night stay. I had reserved for 10 people. When my son arrived, he had closer to 20 people even though NOT ALL 20 were planning to spend the night/weekend. Shortly after group arrived, I received text & phone call from owner in state of concern. Owner had seen through owners RING camera at the front door, our group arriving & was counting the number of people & bags we were bringing into the rental! Owner asked if I was there at the rental, I told owner I was not, but I had close friend arriving that evening to stay on my behalf. Owner became adamant I was breaking the rules & therefore the contract & threatened to kick our group out. Owner spoke with my son several times as well as myself in California. There was no convincing owner that our group had grown in size to less than 20, and we would respect owner property. Our group was told to vacate the premises by 8:30 PM on the 1st night of our arrival or the police would be contacted. Our group left as we were told, left rental in near perfect condition. I confirmed with owner their satisfaction of our departure. 5 days later I texted owner with full explanation & asked if they would consider returning some of my 1800 lost for rental termination. I’ve not heard from owner since.
