At the end of a 2km dirt road you’ll find this expansive property with modest (extremely comfortable) properties (miners cabins.) Our property had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, very compact, comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfy, the bathroom was quite small, but our hosts had provided all the special touches.
The highlight was what the sanctuary was all about…. they are an active rescue sanctuary for a wide range of animals. Thomas the Turkey escorted us around “his” property like a regal soldier. Goats, peacocks, lambs, spectacular ostriches, Shetland ponies, deers, ducks, pigeons, pigs… the list goes on! We could’ve spent weeks appreciating the love this sanctuary gives these animals!
The only downside for us was that we brought our 2 dogs that are not really socialised, and definitely not familiar with wild animals. Don’t get me wrong, our hosts were most welcoming and encouraged us to take our dogs (on lead) around the farm… but we didn’t want to terrorise the poor animals! So the problem was more with us than the lovely place! Also, the cottage didn’t have a secure yard… we should’ve read that first… again, our mistake, not the hosts! But our dogs were welcome inside the house, and cuddled up with us in the evening
We loved our stay and highly recommend it!
