We spent Thanksgiving at this lovely house with our four adult children. The sunroom was our favorite spot, with a whole wall of large windows offering serene views of the beautifully landscaped yard, bordered by a branch of the Withlacoochee River. Other than the house next door, which was empty during our stay, the property is wonderfully secluded, facing the river and the back side of a wooded island, making it peaceful and private. From the yard, we occasionally heard boats on the main river channel but couldn’t see them. Lots of nature: hawks, crows, squirrels, and even a small alligator and a turtle sunning themselves on the opposite bank. The outdoor furniture with cushions, firepit, and hot tub added to the relaxation.
The kitchen was a standout, with a cut-out above the sink overlooking the sunroom, so that even when cooking you get beautiful outdoor views. It’s one of the most well-stocked rentals we’ve ever stayed in, with every kitchen tool you could need and plenty of thoughtful extras.
We highly recommend Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak, just five minutes away, for a 4–6 hour kayaking adventure where they shuttle you upstream on the Rainbow or Withlacoochee River. Seeing otters on the Rainbow and alligators on the Withlacoochee was a highlight! Publix is conveniently close, just 10 minutes away.
The host was extremely responsive and proved that she truly cares about her guests when she moved heaven and earth to help us with an urgent need during our stay.
