The only downsides to the property were:
1. Needs a deep down clean - the furniture, beds, linen, blankets were all fresh and clean, but the house itself needs a deep down clean (really dusty baseboards, old dead bugs in corners, lots of cobwebs in ceiling light fixtures and corners. I don't mind old and rustic at all, but really like a very clean place when vacationing.
2. Some road noise since just off Hwy 71 and periodic railroad noise. We are all good sleepers, so even if awakened by the train, it was easy enough for us to get back to sleep.
3. Outside string lights were beautiful, but appeared to be on a timer that was out of reach and lights stayed on all night. So, without full window shades in some bedrooms, it was very bright in some rooms. Again, we are good sleepers, so did not bother us much, but timer might need to be reset for lighter sleepers.
And now the PROS:
1. Cute house - pretty true to the pictures. Nice, big and private property.
2. Great location - only about 15-20 minutes to Warrenton/ RoundTop (we were there during the week). And just a stone's throw from the cute town square. Close to 2 yummy restaurants and a bakery (Ere's Italian -can bring your own wine or go to the bar next door and buy a bottle; LasFuentas Mexican - very good Tex-Mex but margaritas were "meh"; and Lukas bakery - get there early, they sell out)
3. Even though the house is rustic with small rooms downstairs, the conversational space was good and comfortable.
4. The outside deck is on the back of the house and we had great weather, so we used this space a lot. Very enjoyable to look out over the pastures, wonderfully breezy, outdoor dining table that sat 5 (one patio chair was broken), nice hammock and cute hanging chair. With the string lights on, there was a really nice ambiance for sipping wine and having great conversation among friends.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and with a little more attention to cleaning detail it would be excellent.
