We loved our stay at Matt’s apartment in Bormla/Cospicua, one of the 3 cities just south of Valetta. Matt welcomed us and gave us a walking tour of the neighborhood, including how and where to catch the ferry across the bay, where to buy groceries and where to find the best pastizzia for breakfast. We have never stayed in a VRBO that has so many electrical outlets, plus there was strong internet on both levels. (Be sure to bring a British adapter for your electronics.). The showers were great, with ample hot water. (Note for Americans: as is not unusual in Malta, there is no hot water in the kitchen sink.). We were not familiar with an induction stovetop, but easily found instructions on line. Did we forget to mention that Matt is awesome? Here’s why: 1) he had the foresight to provide a booklet with places to see and things to do in our neighborhood (no ferry needed!); 2) he was always available to quickly respond to any questions we had; 3) he made taxi arrangements for us from the airport to the apartment and back to the airport; 4) one of us saw something she really wanted, and he searched and found it for her! This man goes above and beyond all expectations! We loved coming “home” every evening, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists and university students of downtown Valetta. This apartment is not in the modern tourist area, but in a traditional Maltese neighborhood, with neighborhood traffic, sounds and activity. It was safe for walking in the early morning (to watch the sunrise) and in the evenings. If you’re planning on a trip of 2 or 3 days, you’ll be sorry it’s so short. We were there for 10 days and could have used another week - all based there in Matt’s apartment.
