Our grandson received a telescope for Christmas, so part of his gift was a weekend of stargazing. We were so happy to find this sweet cabin just a short distance from Cherry Springs and a certified Dark Sky area, but we didn't need to travel to see an abundance of stars in the sky above the backyard of the cabin. The cabin is perched on a hill in a secluded and private area with big views and big sky. Our first day was snowy, and we were so happy to see that sleds were provided and the back yard is a perfect sledding hill! The second night, the sun came up on a clear crisp day and after a day of hiking in Cherry Springs Park, we set up the telescope in the yard just off the back porch, and were able to focus in on 4 moons surrounding Jupiter!! When I say Josh & Laurie thought of everything, I mean EVERYTHING! All cabinets are thoughtfully labeled with contents so no need to root around for what you need. Kitchen is well stocked and even has an assortment of basic spices! Need a wine opener, an extra battery, a flashlight, a pair of binoculars, laundry detergent, extra large towels for the hot tub, and practically anything else you forgot? Chances are, they thought of it. There are also extra nice touches of fleecy blankets on the backs of couches, for snuggling and watching the snowfall, big and fluffy white towels and washcloths (in abundance!), an assortment of books and games and so many other conveniences to make a perfect stay. Let me tell you about the hot tub...there is nothing like a steamy relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the snow fall or picking out constellations in the biggest, darkest sky you may ever see. We cooked, played lots of board games, fit in a little bit of football (could not be avoided because men in the family and PLAYOFFS!) Lastly, we appreciated the fact we were permitted to bring our 2 sweet and well mannered french bulldogs who are part of the family and also had a great time hiking at the park. We cannot thank Josh and Laurie enough for a memorable family weekend. Would definitely like to stay again.
