My family and I looked forward to spending the weekend in this property to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived with our two kids, and even though the property looked nice at first glance, when we entered the yurt, there was an infestation caterpillars and worms of different colors and sizes. I first noticed them on the floor which by the way was dirty (dust, leaves, cotton balls?) and froze in terror because I have a deep phobia of caterpillars and all worms. My husband tried to sweep them but there was no dust pan, so he used a sheet of paper to scoop them and throw them outside the best he could. However, we quickly realized this was unworkable because they were everywhere: under the beds, under the sofas, hanging by the curtains, and bed head etc.) There is no way we can lie our heads in this place. My kids were screaming and running. We went outside to regroup and talk to the property manager, and I completely lost it when a black hairy caterpillar the size of a finger almost crawled on my foot. My husband told me to get back in the car because the big ones are everywhere around the yurt. He then put the kids in the car and we left. We never even got a chance to unload any of our stuff. I'm still slaking thinking and writing about this, and jumping when anything touches me. My 3 years old said we got chase by worms which is a pretty accurate statement. The property manager, unfortunately told us this was the season for silk worms and there is nothing they could do about it. They said they will try to rebook the property and refund me if someone else rented it. They later emailed me to tell me they will not be refunding any money to me because they "have to pay the owner for this reservation." I have emailed them three times already, explaining the situation and how this is unethical, unfair, unjust, and bad business to do this to a customer. The property manager said I shouldn't book a tent if I have a fear of worms. I explained to them in my email that level of infestation is not something anyone renting a yurt will expect, and they never disclosed the location was experiencing silk worms in this season. The customer can only book based on the information on the booking site. If that was disclosed, I would have never came close to that property. If they know that disclosing this will not get them any booking, then it is a scam to list the property, get it booked and refuse to refund when the customer founds out. I need a refund!
