The lighting outside the main entrance is non existing. Makes it difficult to see the code you're trying to put on the lock that has the key. The door is equally difficult to open once you have the key. Hot water was not available after a few people may have showers in other rooms. Soap not in dispensers. Although i was told that it will be sorted out the next morning... the next afternoon when i questioned why it was still not sorted out... i was then told that no soap is provided anyway. The driveway needs to be cleared of any debris that may fall, which in my case was a lot when i was arriving. And still the next day was not fully cleared.
I guess the owners are trying to make it self sufficient but in all honesty a person on the property to help out will make the stay more efficient. I wont go back.
Self check in was simple, and it was easy to park up
Rooms were a good size and clean, bed was a little uncomfortable but I'm fussy and like my own bed
Communal kitchen was kept nice and tidy
Good location not too far from Edinburgh
Would stay again
The property is good considering the price with only one drawback that is its too far from the city if you are travelling by public transport and its not safe in dark because you have to walk 20 mins if you are using public transport rest everything was good. I will recommend to the people who have there personal vehicle. It will take 1.30 hour to reach the property by public transport and last thing its self check in so there is no staff there.
This is a nice old estate in the countryside, about 30 mins from Edinburgh. The setting is beautiful, there is a river and forest just a short walk from the estate. Our room (#2) was a okay, the wallpaper was cute and beds were comfy but the wood floor under the carpet needed to be screwed down, it was SO LOUD every time you walked on it. The shared living space was large and nice, the kitchen was huge. Overall, we would stay again!
Most rooms are in basement. Cold. No one comes on daily basis to clean the rooms. Taxitakes 40 pounds one way from Edinburgh town centre to this place. Haunted and will never recommend this place.
This is a beautiful estate in the country. We stayed for about a week. We walked into town several ti.es at a little less than a mile. Phone reception is spotty, and wifi is only in the livingroom.
The overall stay at Kirkill estate rooms was great and excellent. The atmosphere as well as the rooms were clean and great. They also provided every facilities such as kitchen, great outdoors and so on.The property had games room and other board games. They also provided every basic amenities during the stay. This property is worth the price and the journey if you are visiting edinburgh.
The house is beautiful and rooms were quiet and nicely decorated. One negative was that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, so I had to go shopping. The bed linen was very clean and the room bright, even though it was a basement room. Unfortunately, on the morning of leaving, the fire alarm sounded continually, and although the guests waited outside, there was no staff present to switch off the alarm or check the situation. Other than that, a good place to stay.
