Hotel Stay in Edinburgh

First time in Edinburgh staying with friends and the Hotel was great. Staff were very attentive and friendly, always someone on the desks or around the Hotel to speak to regarding queries. Room was spotless and beds were very comfy, would recommend this Hotel to anyone planning to visit Edinburgh.

Nice hotel but need to sort out that water noise

The hotel in general is very good, at a very convenient location; walking distance to Edinburgh castle and train station. The room is good sized with good facilities, I.e bug TV ,coffee machine etc. The only flaw is that there is a water nosie at all times very disturbing at night otherwise the room is very quiet.

Nice stay at the hotel and it is very central. There was one member of staff in the bar that wasn’t very pleasant when we asked for a hot chocolate at night time and had asked a question about juice who was quite rude but apart from him the staff were all lovely and helpful.

First time staying at this hotel. Good location very near to Haymarket tram stop so very convenient for travel into city centre. Nice area with pubs and restaurants nearby. Good size bedroom and bathroom and both very clean.

Generally, a pleasant stay, Sunday morning breakfast, both coffee machines not working, nobody to assist, opened the kitchen door and was told no public access, which is understandable, but it would have been helpful to ask why, when the person came to assist she cleaned a drinks station before remedying the coffee machine. Less than helpful.

No hot water

The hotel is nice and clean and the breakfast was very good. It could have been improved by having black pudding in the option for the fried breakfast. Our room also didn’t have any hot water in the morning. I did call reception who said it will be fixed in 30 minutes so we went for breakfast first. An hour later I tried again but there was still no hot water. We ended up running out of time to move room so we had to leave without washing which I was unhappy about.

Extremely Disappointing Experience

Quick and efficient check in but our entire experience was spoiled by the fact that the room had no hot water. Unable to shower prior to our evening meal. Despite the assurance of both maintenance and reception staff that the boiler had been fixed we received no more than 1 hour of lukewarm water all evening before it became cold again. No hot water in the morning so mentioned it again to reception staff prior to our breakfast. Very disappointed to receive a nonchalant almost “shrug of the shoulders “ response from reception staff which is not what we have been used to at this Hotel over many years. Perhaps the new staff require a refresher course in customer service. Breakfast hot food unfortunately cold and alternative choices not of a particularly high quality. Departed hotel to attend a family lunch not having been able to have a shower. As visitors to the Leonardo many times over many years it has left us wondering whether the standards are slipping and of alternative options in the future.
