We are from North Carolina and it was out first time in Maine. The first thought I had, after driving to the home (for the first time) from dinner in Bar Harbor was that it is too far away. That’s not true. The longer we stayed in Maine, the more I realized that it is a perfect distance away from Bar Harbor. At or less than 30 minutes is perfect so that you can stay away from the noise and light pollution and really experience the non-tourist side of Maine. The house itself was perfect. VERY CLEAN HOUSE. The manual outlines everything you will need to know about the house. The beds were good for us, and I even sleep on a high-end Purple Mattress at home, so I wouldn’t worry about that. The kitchen has everything you will need. The living room also has everything you will need but if you are in this part of Maine, you likely won’t be spending much time in the living room. We had no need of the upstairs but it was laid out well and clean up there. If you are quiet and vigilant, you can spot the wildlife in the backyard, or you can walk out to your car at 10pm and accidently scare a deer that is standing right beside your car, and it will scare you as well. You can see EVERY star in the sky. My only suggestion is that you download offline maps inside of the google maps application. I have Verizon Wireless and anywhere 20 minutes from the house, I had no service. This was no issue since I downloaded offline maps beforehand and can essentially use the Maps application normally. If we come back to this part of the world, I will not even seek out different lodging, I would come right back to this place.
