My family and I stayed at the Lodge on Lake 13 in Farwell over Labor Day weekend. The location was perfect for my wife, as she attended the Amish Quilt auction. The porch and dock were the main hangout spot for our kids, who were focused on fishing (we even caught a Northern Pike!). Unfortunately, a storm prior to our arrival caused a power outage. Two rooms upstairs and part of the kitchen were without power on our first night, but the crew had it fixed by noon the next day. However, the fix cut power to the washing machine, and I had to buy a 25ft extension cord to restore its use. It’s unclear if this issue was due to the storm or faulty electrical wiring.
The overall cleanliness of the house was below average. The property is pet-friendly (we did not bring pets) which meant noticeable carpet stains and a urine odor, especially in the evenings when the humidity increased. Additionally, we brought meat to grill, but my mother had to spend 15-20 minutes cleaning the outdoor grill before we could use it.
Overall, while the location and outdoor amenities were great for our family, the power issues and cleanliness left room for improvement.
