First impressions: very cute and cozy. The lodge is indeed rustic and decorated with interesting artifacts, books, etc. The fireplace is beautiful but unfortunately was not operable ( gas fireplace). The first evening we came in soaked from a walk at the ocean in rain. The lodge was quite cold and uninviting, so we holed up in the nice, clean, but very small room ( it had a heater). I did contact the host who said he would come look at the fireplace later. The lodge was still cold in the morning. At some point during that day the host turned on heat, so the second evening we stayed it was at least warm.
On our second morning the power went off just as we got up, so we left. The power outage was throughout the region, so no fault of the host.
Overall our stay was pleasant, but overpriced for what it is. And since I assume the price includes the ambience that is derived from the huge stone fireplace in the lodge, it would have been nice if the host had kept it in working order. I own a long term rental, and am required by law to provide a reliable source of heat.
