Disappointing Stay â Poor Communication and No Air Conditioning
I donât usually leave negative reviews, but I feel itâs important to be honest for future guests. Unfortunately, my experience at this rental was frustrating due to poor communication and a major issue with comfort.First and foremost, the property did not have functioning air conditioning, which made the stay extremely uncomfortable. When I reached out for assistance, the hostâs responses were delayed 24 hours and unhelpful.Good communication is key to a smooth rental experience, and sadly that was lacking here. Basic questions took too long to be answered, and there was little effort to resolve the issue or offer any alternative solutions. The space itself had potential, but without proper cooling and reliable host support, it was hard to enjoy. I hope future guests have a better experience, but I would not return or recommend this listing unless improvements are made. The ceiling fan in the bedroom cannot be used at night as it is wired to the recessed lights and youâre unable to turn them off. The bath mat was dirty. There was only one washcloth and at least one hand towel was stained. The bedspread was stained. The first aid kit had smears of blood in it. When we arrived one of the lounge chairs was broken and they did promptly remove. Arrival directions said to enter the âredâ door which is clearly brown.
The property suited our needs and was close to where we needed to be. Restaurants and shops are close. Nice little backyard with a view of the river. The unit appeared to have been renovated recently. Very nice stay, I recommend.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay overall. There were a few downsides such as one unclean dish we found, the brightness within the house and traffic at night, and the cleaning lady coming while we were there. But for our honeymoon we found it relaxing as we enjoyed a movie and sitting beside the canal and seeing the iguanas. Thank you again for letting us stay in your home!
The listing says pet friendly, itâs not. They charged me an additional $500 for some so called damage and they couldnât produce pictures.
The neighbors started fighting/ arguing around 2:30 am every morning.
Itâs some kinda closed In carport addition to there house.
The main a/c was frozen up the entire time.
The back yard is a death trap with all the re-bar sticking out of the ground, and a hand winch holding up the privacy fence.
The exterior receptacles had no GFCI or cover, and it looked like all the interior decor came from Big Lots.
We had to park in the lot next to the property that was covered in knee high grass.
Itâs on Davie BLVD and we heard police and ambulance sirens multiple times. Itâs not a quiet area at all.
Stayed at this updated 1 bedroom 1 bath duplex for 3 weeks. Very clean and updated. it has a small kitchenette. Fridge, small sink and 2 burner stove top. Appliances and bathroom were modern and updated. The bed is a full size and very firm. The sectional sofa turns into a bed as well. Backyard is adorable and overlooks a canal with lounge chairs. All in all a very cute place. Owner was responsive when needed.
Although shown in the listing pics & mentioned in a previous review were NO bedside lamps. My sister & i are both nighttime readers. We took a round trip Uber to buy lamps at Walmart. The host was non sympathetic. The bed sheets were pilly & rough. There was only a fitted sheet for the living room couch, no top. No washcloths. Apparently there are beach chairs & other amenities available but must be requested 24 hours BEFORE check in, not sure how that is supported to work if not told in prior communications? Beautiful location though.
The unit was clean and comfortably air conditioned well equipped with everything I needed, and the relaxing atmosphere overlooking the River provided the perfect atmosphere to decompress.
I shared my space with a couple of lazy iguanas who soaked up the sun with me. A far cry from the squirrels and rabbits I see at home.
While there was no restaurants within walking distance, the proximity to local buses provided cheap transportation to the surrounding areas.
Pros: the location is very central (although not walkable) to many restaurants and locations in Fort Lauderdale, and the water feature was very very nice.
Cons: There were no wash cloths available for use and no lamps (although it does show some in the listing photos). In the shower there is no place to set toiletries except for the floor. The location is on a busy street so you may hear traffic through the night, and the outdoor area is a shared space. All in all, none of the cons are dealer breakers just something to be aware of when booking!
This is a sweet place right on a canal, within just a few minutes of downtown stores and restaurants. We enjoyed having our coffee sitting next to the canal every morning. The hostess, Katia was very helpful.
As most of the other reviews have stated, the yard on the canal is great! Yard is fenced and secure for fur babies. Our dog had his first encounter with iguanas sunning on the seawall. He wasn't sure at first, but then decided they were just green squirrels. I never knew they could swim like that. The inside was pleasantly modern styled, just like the pics, and very clean. We had everything we needed, and location was extremely convenient to downtown and the boat show. Would definitely book again if visiting Ft. Lauderdale.
Only minor problem was when we arrived we still had not received the door code. I emailed and called, and in about 5 minutes was sent the code. Like I said very minor, quickly solved, and no other issues.
The property was reasonable. The bed was small and difficult to sleep in.
had to bring in our blow-up mattress from our car and sleep on the floor. As a business traveler I have a very good idea of what to expect. Davie Blvd is a very busy street. Getting out of the villa is challenging. we were suppose to stay four nights and we left after two nights. VRBO needs to figure out a way to refund advance payment, if you decide to leave early. Not a happy customer. I
I chose this property mainly for the close proximity to the city of Fort Lauderdale and for the modern interior for the price. The one suggestion for making this a five-star review is to add paper towels, toilet paper. This doesn't cost much and would save your guests from having to hunt for these essential items when they check-in late.
Nice space. Enjoyed morning coffee on the waterside deck. Very minimal kitchen with minimal kitchen supplies but we were ok with that. My wife and I enjoyed very much. Loved the modern feel and the cold AC.
The house is small but comfortable. It's newly remodeled in a modern style, which we liked. There is a tiny backyard facing the river, great place to relax. The wifi in the house is super fast.
If you are a big person, please note that the bed is a double bed size. We didn't read the description thoroughly enough, so we were surprised but it was our oversight.
The bedroom is on the side of the busy street, so you can hear the cars but it didn't bother us too much - it's just a constant monotonous distant background noise, after a while you don't even notice it.
