Fun at Leeward Retreat!
Our 3 generational family of 8, ranging in age from 21 to 78, had the pleasure of spending a 3-day weekend at Leeward Retreat. Prior to check-in, we found NewCentury Vacation Homes most accommodating in planning our trip. The location of the house is phenomenal-directly on the beach with a lighted path to the sand and beautiful 24-hour views of the Gulf. The fenced yard was ideal for our miniature Schnauzers. We all enjoyed the hot tub and hammocks on the lower level. Great eating areas both inside and out. Inside, the open living/kitchen area worked well for family time. Incredibly well-stocked kitchen for all cooking needs. The 4 bedrooms on the main level were ideal for our family, but the upstairs bunk room would also be handy for those traveling with children. When we plan another overnight trip to Galveston, we hope this house is available for us to make our home away from home!

Leeward Retreat Was A Treat!
Our family ended the summer at this beautiful home located right on the beach, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The bonus--it was very quiet which made for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The home is very true to the listing information and is very spacious with the 5 bedrooms. The fully stocked kitchen and large island were delightful and suited all of our culinary needs. Also, loved the big living room seating area, the hot tub and all of the games--both indoor and out. The beach umbrellas, toys, and tackle were also a plus. I would absolutely do a repeat and book Leeward Retreat again!

Family Time
We stayed here for a long weekend with our adult children and grandchildren. We loved the proximity to the beach and the outside shower to rinse off before going back in the house. The downstairs area was great for us to play games once the kids were asleep to keep the noise separated from them. The only negative is the kitchen supplies really need updating. The kitchen pans, silverware, cooking utensils, etc. all were lacking. Everything else was great.

This property has a spectacular view. The yard is perfect for pets. We had a little issue but was resolved by management quickly. We rented a golf cart but unable to use since motorized vehicles are not allowed on the beach. Great place

Very relaxing, warm, and a kiss goodbye to summer.
The kids enjoyed being at the house and on the beach so much they didn’t want to go anywhere! We assumed they would want to go to the amusement park, not a chance. We had pre-planned a night we would all go out to eat. They went…. But complained that they wished we could have just stayed at the house & on the beach. We will do this again. The house was a perfect fit for our families. (2 brothers and their families.)

This house needs work
Everyone I spoke with the management company was very nice, and the website they provide with information for the house is very helpful! They let us know ahead of time that the hot tub would not be working, and they apologized, so I thought that was nice. However, the house needs some major work! There are a lot of soft spots in the flooring that feel like the subfloor is rotting, and all of the wet surfaces could use a serious deep clean. There’s no backsplash in the kitchen, so the caulking behind the sink is moldy where the drywall meets the counter. There are gaps in the kitchen counter and the tile around the bathtub which leave spaces for bacteria to grow. The rainfall showerhead in the master is heavily clogged with hard water minerals, and there was mold on the shower mat and on the ceiling around the air vent. The home is in a good location but is in serious need of treating for bugs. We saw two water bugs inside the house, one in the kitchen drawers, and there were TONS of mosquitoes that seemed to enjoy the bottom patio area. We didn’t get to enjoy the outside of the home at all, which is a bummer since there is a really nice, new upper deck area. The house was decorated nicely, and the beds were very comfortable, but this house just has a lot of things that need to be addressed.

Great Beach Get Away
The house was very nicely appointed, and well-furnished and supplied. We enjoyed the beach being so close and all the activities very much! We will be back! Sean was very attentive to all of our needs.

Great House
Perfect house for families with kids and pets. Big plus was the fenced in backyard to contain the toddlers and dogs. Plenty of beach toys and chairs. Hot tub was great. Fishing equipment was not really useable so I would recommend to bring your own like we did.

Great island getaway!
We rented this terrific house as a preview to a possible summer gathering with our kids & grandkids. Fantastic views with easy access to the beach. The hot tub was warm & could accommodate 6-8 people easily. The 3 bedrooms on the main floor were adequately furnished and comfortable, and the upstairs bedroom is a great kids' bunkroom. There's a huge kitchen with lots of dishes and plenty of cooking equipment, although some were in need of replacement. The bathrooms definitely need some updating and the Master bath has very limited closet space for clothes. We were told that a renovation is planned in January or February and look forward to seeing the changes they make. We'd definitely recommend this property for a large family group.

Great location!
The house is in a fantastic location. We loved watching the sunrise, dolphins in the ocean and reading and eating on the deck. The house had a big space to gather and the kitchen is well stocked. We have stayed at many VRBO type of places. While we enjoyed the house location, there were things that we needed to call on; cleanliness, tiki torch fluid smell that had been spilled in the laundry area and still smells (flammable), broken items and house in disrepair. The photos on the site should be updated with how the house looks now and what furniture is in the house now and remove the photos that have furniture that is no longer in the house. I would recommend the house to stay in, but just know that the house is a little tired and the photos are a little misleading.

We started planning months in advance. We wanted a beach front property. This is that! We walked countless times down to the water. We were able to rent golf carts. It was awesome! When we arrived there was a maintenance man repairing the toilet, which did not flush well at all, it was eventually replaced on our last day there which I found inconvenient but they were very quick. The the hot tub was one of the things a lot of the other beach houses didn’t have, it was a seller for me and it was so disappointing. It was never hot, the jets didn’t work and it was gross feeling. I did let them know, the communication with the property manager is great, so if you had an issue it was handled. Although I didn’t understand in the past reviews the hot tub was mentioned so I assumed it would be top notch. It was not! The comfort and house was wonderful. The layout is perfect for gathering. We felt the couch could use replacement. The master bedroom was an absolute delight opening the door straight to the beach was wonderful. The other rooms were nice, comfortable. My cousins said the other toilet might need to be replaced as well. No stress like the it doesn’t flush stress!! The gated yard & downstairs was also perfect when the sun got too hot. We had to clean the tops of the tables before we could use them, we figured though it gets windy and there is sand. Perfectly placed water hose on the deck to wash shoes & feet. Great being able to bring my pet. Lots of toys in the garage but also creepy dirty in there. Washer & dryer worked great. The house did come stocked with a few supplies such as cutting boards, old pots, cups etc.. that was helpful. I tried to be detailed in this review. So many others reviews helped me choose the right home. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Beautiful Beach Getaway!!
We stayed at this beautiful beach house for 4 nights in October of 2021. It was a wonderful stay. The house was clean and one of the best equipped houses we've stayed in. The upstairs bunkbed room was a perfect place for our 5 grandchildren to sleep. The master bedroom and bathroom was amazing. Sleeping in the kingsize bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was so comfortable! The master bathroom was roomy. There were 3 other bedrooms downstairs and another full bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked with everything one would need including plenty of pots and pans, dishes, coffee cups, and all appliances. The living room was roomy with a nice large comfy sectional. Our favorite part of the house was the downstairs patio area. We stayed there when weren't on the beach. There were hammocks, a couch, a bar, hot tub, horse shoes, bean bag toss, and more. It was the best spot to escape the hot afternoon and still be outside. There was an outdoor shower with running hot water and hoses to rinse of your feet and shoes. The yard was fenced most of the way around. We brought our own small pet fence (about 4 yards long) to finish off the fencing that runs along the downstairs patio which worked like a charm keeping our dogs in the yard. This house has a room downstairs that has a washer and dryer. It is also FILLED with beach toys, crab traps, fishing poles, outdoor games, body boards, etc. AMAZING! My family rents a house every year for a family beach get away and we all decided that this was our favorite house that we've ever rented. The owners have done a great job creating such a nice place and the managers were very gracious and easy to contact when we had questions We will rent this house again!

Sadly Disappointed
We stayed here a few years ago and love it…that’s why we chose it again. This time was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival at 4 pm the cleaning crew had just started cleaning. We had groceries & small children that had to wait in the heat until almost 6 pm before we could get in. Even then they had to come back the next day because there were dirty towels and blankets left in closets, wipe down spills off walls and dust. Several lightbulbs were burned out but were told we had to change them which is fine (although for the money that shouldn’t be our job) but there was no ladder and ceilings are to tall. The new stools around the island are too tall for the counter so we could not eat as a group together. The hot tub jets didn’t work and most disturbing of all we discovered mold on the kitchen cabinets. If the property manager/owner needs pictures I can send them. The location is great but for the price it is no longer worth staying here.

Great house and amazing location.
We had a great time on our stay. You literally do not need to bring anything but some groceries for your stay. This place provided almost everything, including fishing poles, sand toys, laundry detergent, board games, ect. We way over packed, as this was our first VRBO experience. We had more than plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 kids. The fenced in yard made it great for our kids. The only complaint that I can come up with was dirty dish in the oven and maybe the weather and fishing could have been a bit better. Overall, I would totally recommend this house to anyone staying in Galveston. My family will rebook this location on our next visit.

Beautiful Sunrises
If you are looking for a place to just kick back and relax this is it. We woke up to some of the most incredible sunrises. Enjoyed being right on the beach. Check in and check out was the easiest we have ever done. The property manager was excellent at keeping in touch and answering all of my questions. We had an amazing time, we hope to return again next spring.
