This location, in my opinion, is not a location for single female travelers. There were times in the early evening hours that I felt it was not safe. I witnessed small male groups (several during my five night stay) doing what appeared to be drug deals; and in the evening hours female solicitation on the boardwalk. I am a world traveler so I am not unfamiliar to these types of things; and I am also familiar to big city living, so not naïve. My sole reason for stating these things is help prospective single female (and families with children) travelers be extra alert.
This flat also needs some attention to maintenance and cleaning. There was black mold in the bath/shower, paint was chipping and falling off the kitchen cupboards, massive amounts of dust under the bed (I kicked a shoe under the bed and had to retrieve it), black flakes of some type fell each evening onto the bed from the AC (I'm sure some type of maintenance was needed, maybe a filter?), the refrigerator was not cleaned from prior renter, just to name a few.
In my nearly three month stay in Europe (France, Spain, Italy) I stayed in 18 different places; this was the worst of all the places I stayed. I will not be booking this place again. There are other places nearby on the other piers that are much better (I know my friends got one of those places so I can honestly compare).
With that being said, the location is central to what most want to do in Genoa. The AC did work well, thank goodness; and the internet worked well, which was important since I was working.
