As a Georgetown native, my family and I have always had fantastic experiences with VRBO rentals when we visit, however, our recent booking in this rental July 10th-17th was disappointing. The cat urine odor that greeted us on arrival was promptly reported to the host who seemed unaware of any cat presence indoors, attributing the smell to a mother cat spraying due to kittens being removed from under the house. We spent the remaining hours of the first day cleaning, trying to mitigate the smell and carefully inspecting the rest of the rental. The host offered Lysol, coffee grounds, and a cleaning fee refund, which only partially mitigated the issue. As natives of the area, we are well-versed in dealing with the local mosquito population. By July 14th, we noticed peculiar bites. We initially assumed them to be mosquito bites, however their unique pattern and the discovery of fleas made us realize that they were flea bites by the 16th. We promptly notified the host. Despite photographic evidence of fleas and the distinctive bite patterns, the host dismissed our concerns, dubbing the photographed fleas as lint. Our departure on July 17th brought relief rather than post-vacation blues. I write this review to caution potential renters of our experience characterized by cleanliness issues, an unrelenting cat urine smell, a flea infestation, and a dismissive host. Every guest deserves a clean and pest-free stay, so they can enjoy Georgetown's charm, unspoiled by such issues.
