Wonderful house for large group!
My family and two others had a great stay together at Shay's house in Great Barrington. Meeting up from Boston and NYC, it was the perfect halfway point. Between us, we had 6 adults and 7 kids between the ages of 1-11 and the space was perfect for our needs. The kids LOVED the bunk rooms and the connected play room, and the adults loved that we could close the door and they could be as loud as they wanted! Other highlights of our trip included making s'mores on the outdoor fire pit, eating meals around the large table that fit all 13 of us, restful night's sleep in the comfortable beds, time in the hot tub, and playing in the large backyard. The house was clean, spacious, and had pretty much everything that we needed! Thanks for a great long weekend!

Family Weekend
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this fantastic house in the heart of Great Barrington, and it exceeded our expectations! The house layout is both spacious and inviting, providing plenty of room for our family to relax and enjoy. One of the highlights was the playroom, which kept the kids entertained for hours with its wonderful assortment of games, making it a perfect retreat for them, while the accommodations for kids were thoughtfully designed, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and included. The fully stocked kitchen was a dream for family meals, featuring modern appliances and all the necessary cookware, allowing us to prepare and enjoy our meals together. The location is another significant advantage, as it’s just a short walk to local shops and restaurants, making it easy to explore the charming town. Outside, the yard was a standout feature, complete with a soccer net that provided endless fun for the kids, while the outdoor fire pit created the perfect space. Overall, this house is a perfect getaway for families looking to enjoy both comfort and adventure in Great Barrington, and I highly recommend it!

Great Escape at The Great Escape Cottage
We just returned from a stay at the Great Escape Cottage. Our party was comprised of 10 adult extended family members celebrating a long birthday weekend in the Berkshires. The consensus from all was that Shay’s home is lovely and so comfortable. The thought that has gone into even the smallest amenities in the home was noticed and appreciated. The house was as pictured, very well maintained and clean. The bedding, linen and towels were hotel quality! The open kitchen, dining and conversation area provided a wonderful space for a large group to gather for a meal or some nibbles before going out to dinner. We also fully appreciated the outdoor space enjoying an outdoor lunch in the early fall sunshine, the hot tub and gathering in the evening by the fire pit. Unexpectedly the Air Hockey table in the game room spawned some nostalgia and sibling rivalry with an air hockey tournament. The location in Great Barrington was perfect only 10 minutes to downtown GB and a short drive to other key towns like Lenox and Stockbridge. Also great proximity to Monument Mountain and Catamount where I would highly recommend the zip lining. Wonderful property that lent to a wonderful time for all! Thank you Shay.

The interior of the house was cleaned well after the last guest. The washing machines had a lot of built-up mold in soap dispensers, giving off a moldy odor. There were visible stains on the chairs in front of the fireplace. The exterior sides of the house and decks desperately needed some power washing to remove bird poop and bugs, and cobwebs. The hot tub was unusable due to frogs taking up residence. This essential basic cleanliness inside and out should be expected for the price of a summer retreat. There was no pantry storage for groceries. The location was great. The owner was responsive.

Not just 5 star house, 100-1,000 stars
We had a family gathering over four days of Thanksgiving, kids to grandparents. Quiet location in the woods, but just minutes to get into Great Barrington for shopping, exploring, hiking. The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking and serving a full turkey dinner for the crowd, except for a roasting pan big enough for a 24-pound turkey (family member who hadn't left their house brought one). We had two issues with appliances that we reported but it was the day we were leaving so we weren't around when they were repaired. House was immaculately clean, with several different seating areas for choices to watch football or read/knit/talk; beds all very comfy with duvets. The 100-1,000 stars were awarded by the two youngest grandchildren. Not only did they both get top bunks in their bedroom, they loved all the games in the game room and the outside soccer nets. Any questions we had before we arrived were answered promptly by the host. Definitely recommended.

This is a very lovely property, perfect for a long weekend with family. The bedrooms are spread out so that everyone had comfort and privacy. The house has all the expected amenities, lots of fun extras (the basketball game machine!), and has clearly been designed with guests in mind (love the labeling of light switches). Spacious and well-appointed
House is beautiful and very comfortable. Each bedroom and bath was welcoming and cheerful. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, dishes, and spices!! Big fenced well-tended yard with lots of seating choices. BBQ grill made cooking easy. Air-conditioners worked well and Wi-Fi strong to make it a very nice comfortable and productive stay (if you have to do some work). Great house that is 10min drive to Great Barrington Town Center making foods pharmacy, and other shopping very easy. Shay was always responsive making any issues easy to solve. Perfect house for a family get together
8 of us recently spent 4 nights at The Great Escape cottage. The house is perfect for a large group with plenty of spaces to find time alone plus gorgeous outdoor space and separate TV/game room area. The house was immaculately clean which is super important to me. It was stocked with everything we needed for our stay. One en-suite bedroom and another larger bedroom with hallways bathroom upstairs. There is another larger en-suite bedroom on the first floor with two more bedrooms (the lofted bedroom and the bunk room) off the game room which is a bit less central to the main living area. Great for privacy but less great if your party includes people who plan to use the TV/game room late into the night. A/C in every room which was great for all our various temperature preferences. The back and front yards are huge with lots of cozy places to sit. The hot tub is great as is the fire pit. I would return to this house in a heartbeat. Don’t hesitate if you’re considering the house!

Christmas Family Vacation
We were 3 adult couples staying at the house for a week during Christmas. The house was as described and as shown in the pictures, nicely decorated and with 2 separate living areas for gathering with the family, watching TV or playing games. The kitchen was a decent size, but the counter space was a little bit of a challenge if more than 2 people were cooking at the same time. Other than that, the kitchen was well stocked and had everything that was needed for a family meal. Overall it was a great experience!

Great, well located house
This house has a wonderful layout for families. It was beyond amazing for the kids to essentially have an entire wing to themselves. Adult bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice. Comfortable mattresses, lots of spaces to hang and a very nice kitchen. Plenty of hot water for multiple people to shower while the dishwasher was even running. Super close to Butternut for skiing and the town of GB. Would definitely return.

Acknowledgment and disarming of interior camera before arrival would have been appreciated. The kitchen needs better oven mits and knives. The yard is terrific especially with the fenced area. Accomodations , game room, device support all great. Clean up before departure guidelines seemed excessive compared to other properties especially with added cleaning fees for pets--hand vac was limiting. Great spot!
We used this home as a gathering spot for a group of friends. It was perfect! The house was great and had all the right facilities and amenities. The backyard space was terrific and nearby hiking, shopping, and dining experiences were all first rate!
