My son and myself were met by Rosie, who showed us around and provided us with all of the information that we needed. The penthouse was spacious, very comfortable and was very well equipped. The large balcony / terrace area had unobstructed views of the village, the mountains, valley and reservoir. A lovely place to eat and drink, enjoying the sunshine, after a day's skiing.
In late March, we found that the property was so warm that we only needed (the very efficient) heating system on for 10 to 15 min.s, in the morning and the same in the evening. Leaving from the front (higher level), it was a short walk up to the many tapas bars / restaurants. In each, the welcome was very friendly and there was always an element of surprise at what we would receive, with every drink.
The village is very attractive, with drinking fountains at various locations. We topped up our 6 ltr. container, with beautiful mountain water; far superior to the supermarket product.
Clare and Rosie told us of the short cut to the ski slopes, which we used every day, although on the last day we had to turn back, near the top, as a few cars could get no further because of ice. It's not the place to be in icy conditions but the views, looking down on the village, are superb.
Most days, we parked above Pradollano, in the Penones car park but, on the first day the ski pass kiosk was closed, as a result of deep snow, and we had to ski down to the village base, in order to buy our cards.
I finally got to see Africa, from 11,000+ ft in the Sierra Nevada.
Can't wait to return to Mulhacen. Geoff T.
