Great base for all north shore adventures
This rental was a great base for all of our north shore adventures. Pros:- Great location - walkable to the beach and everything in Hanalei- Very comfortable beds- Spacious- Large and well-outfitted kitchen- Washer/dryer in-unit- Outdoor shower, beach chairs, etc Cons:- Pretty dark inside, there are no central overhead lights in the main space- AC is only in bedrooms so warm/humid in the living room and kitchen- Not supposed to charge phones in bedrooms (we couldn't comply with this, one of us has a medical condition and needs a phone nearby as a monitor; we've never seen this request at a rental before)Overall, this was a great spot, good value, and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again on a future trip!

The Hanalei
We enjoyed our stay the home was nice but the main part of the house was very warm no a/c and no circulation. The couch that is shown in this picture is worn out. We were spending 12 dollars a day buying ice to feed the ice maker. It took almost 20 hrs to drop one slab of ice. Nothing really froze in the freezer. But the tv is a computer monitor inside the case that being said we all enjoyed our stay. Would I stay there again I am not sure. The rental company and all their personal where great and I would use them again.

Perfect location
This place is perfectly located. It's 1 block away from the west side of Hanalei Bay and an easy walking distance to all the shops in Hanalei. The view from the kitchen was breathtaking. The place was stocked with soap for toiletries. There was a bit of sand toys and pool noodles. We didn't see any boogie boards although I think other reviews mention them. Of note, air conditioning is only in the bedrooms but we were okay with opening the windows and using the available fans. We also loved all the spices and condiments available in the kitchen. It was a great base to all of our north shore adventures.

Amazing house in Hanalei - 5 min walk to the beach
The house was perfectly sized for my wife, her friend, and my grandpa. Suzanne is the perfect hostess. Check in was a breeze. House instructions and more in a binder in the kitchen. Common areas are huge. Loved the walkin shower in the master bath! Everything was very clean. And it a few mins drive into Hanalei which is the perfect little beach town!

Their cat bit my five year old. We didn’t have check in information when we needed it. Communication was conflicting and slow. House was messy. Dogs next doors constantly howling and barking. Cats kept coming in the house.

The house is what we expected. The weather was hot and there was no breeze coming in the windows. Therefore, the house was warmer than we would have anticipated. The owner had many fans for the common areas. The bedrooms do have AC. I can’t blame the owner for the weather. If you are used to AC and do not tolerate the heat, then this may not be the home for you. The home is a short walk to the beach and shopping. We did enjoy our stay at this home. This side of the island does get more rain.

Hanelei beach house
2 blocks from gorgeous beach, walkable to town and good eats and Market. The six adults in our family never felt crowded as each couple had their own bathroom. Open concept living dining area for family time. Friendly House cat ( outside) keep us smiling. Kitchen well stocked if you felt like cooking. Outdoor shower was a big hit! We loved this home.

We had a fantastic 2 week stay at The Hanalei. Perfect walkimg distance to the beach. 15 minute walk to downtown Hanalei which is nice, because you are away from the downtown crowd and noise. Great amenities. Beach chairs and beach towels could use an upgrade. It is dark inside and very hot so the fans were used. But, overall, we had an awesome stay.

Great location, plenty of space
I came with my husband, parents, and three kids (ages 2-9). There was plenty of room for the seven of us, and we were delighted with the proximity of the house to the beach. The outdoor shower and washer/dryer at the house made it easy to keep ourselves and our clothes and towels clean. The kitchen was easy to prepare meals in. It wasn’t prefect, but our complaints were so minor compared to the benefits of staying at this house. Overall, we were very happy with the space.

Our January stay at the Hanalei
We overall enjoyed our time as a family of 2 grandparents, 2 adults and a 5 year old. Just a couple of negative things - the bbq is not a stainless steel bbq as advertised. It is a Webber grill that needs briquets. We found an empty bag of briquets and lighter fluid in the outdoor closet, but when we asked about replacing them, were told they are not provided. We had already purchased meats for grilling so had to drive to purchase briquets. Would be nice to provide for the grill as they are needed to bbq! We also agree with previous reviews of the photos being extremely misleading…. It is very dark inside. So dark that we needed to take the lamp shades off to be able to read. Also, although the location is just 2 blocks from the beach, it is almost at the opposite end of the bay from the pier. As we were here in January, the water was not swimmable where we were and had to drive to the pier area in order to go in the water. We walked with all our beach stuff one day just to play in the sand with our 5 year old, and the life guards actually asked us to leave, even when we said we weren’t going to go in the water. He told us it’s just too dangerous with a smaller child to be close by the water as a wave could come up. He asked us to move to the beach by the pier. So although the unit it is very close to the beach, depending on the time of year you’re here and the age of any children that might be with you, the close beach might not be ideal.

Everything was great--plenty of beach things in the outdoor closet, and the beach was close, as was the town. We onlu disappointment was that a freezer had leaked water over the kitchen floor when we arrived. There was a sign on the freezer saying not to use it. We put towels on the floor and mopped up the mess, and it didn't reoccur. Would definitely rent this house again!

Surf excursion
We enjoyed our stay at the Hanalei so much! We were there primarily for the surf and were not disappointed. The location was just a block from the beach. The size of the duplex was perfect for our group of six adults. We used the kitchen for most of our meals which was fully equipped with utensils, pots and pans, etc. We would not hesitate booking here again with a large group.

So close to beach in spacious home!
The check in process was very easy. The home is just a few minutes walk from Hanalei bay and very short drive to local restaurants, coffee shops, etc. the view from the kitchen is absolutely stunning. Bed was very comfy and the whole place seemed spacious for a duplex. Didn’t hear the neighbors at all. We loved this place and would definitely stay again!

Fantastic Beach Close Home
We had an amazing two weeks at this fantastic property. It is a duplex but we NEVER heard our neighbors even though a few groups came and went while we were there. The room a/c units were great, and really helped us sleep comfortably at night. During the day we kept the sliders and windows open to give us a breeze when we cooked and relaxed in them main room and kitchen. The beach is less than a five minute walk. We spent hours on the sand straight out from the house. We also enjoyed Black Pot near the Pier where we could jump off the pier and surf the small break near the river mouth. Walking into town is a breeze to burn some extra calories from all the mai tais! The Dophin fish market is amazing for fresh fish. Wishing Well Shave Ice is THE best and only place we get our shave ice from. Big Save is close by for essentials and Foodland in Princeville has a great larger selection. No trip to Hanalei is complete without going to the Tahiti Nui...the most famoues and best Mai Tais in the world, in our opinion. The staff is always lovely, the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing, and we love that Auntie Louise is still present in spirit. The Hanalei house is the perfect spot for your medium sized group. We'd definitely stay there again. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. She was always polite and informed. The kitchen was the best stocked we've seen and we've stayed all over Hanalei in the past 12 years. Mahalo for the memories and hospitality. We shall be back!

Summer 2022
Hanalei Bay is our family favorite destination. This home was perfect for all our needs. From the short walk to the beach, to beach toys, beach towels and beach chairs, we were in heaven. We had 4 children, ages 4-10 and spent every day in or near the water. We rented double kayaks up the Hanalei River and enjoy a day of paddling out into the bay. the kids enjoyed hanging together and the owner kindly loaned us 2 sleeping mats and extra sheets which was a life saver. The three separate bedrooms with bathrooms was perfect and well insulated for sound. I'm older, and Really appreciated The AC in the bedroom. It was a gift that offered a comfortable nights sleep, as well as the large quiet overhead fans to keep the air moving. My family and I would definitely love to come again.
