This was our first summer getaway at a cottage. In the past, we have always camped. As such, and given the steep rental fee, we were expecting luxurious accommodation (by comparison), with all the amenities. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The cottage was spacious and reasonably clean, but the kitchen was not particularly well-equipped, and the bathrooms were not stocked with bathing supplies or many towels, as advertised.
Our biggest disappointment was the poor water access and quality. The shoreline was mucky, full of algae and fallen trees and very shallow. There appeared to be a couple of floating docks on the property, but they were on land, upside down, 50 m from the shore. It was a hot, humid week and we did not swim even once, nor did we see any of the neighbours in the water. We did use the kayaks (okay) and canoe (terrible) on one occasion.
Thankfully, we came equipped with our own board games, kitchen tools, beach towels and yoga mats and had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
