I like how convenient this place was to everything in the city of Helena. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The small kitchen had everything you would need for cooking. The suite we were in did need some cosmetic touch ups to it such as the bathroom and floor. The bathroom was the coldest area for us. I suggest a heat light in there would make a huge difference. The manager was most helpful and kind to educate us about “on demand hot water” and how it works. She even stopped over to show us in person how it works in order to get the hot water. We were so thankful for that lesson. Another great thing about this place, we had complete control of our thermostat. It is winter and snowstorms were nonstop while we were there. So it was nice to know you could adjust your thermostat if the cold was too much.

Cozy and Convenient for a Great Price

I recently stayed at Lamplighter Cabins for two nights while in Helena for a job interview, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The location was incredibly convenient, giving me easy access to everything I needed. The price was very reasonable, and the accommodations were clean, cozy, and well-equipped. I especially appreciated the smart TV in the room, which allowed me to log into my streaming accounts and relax in the evenings. While not overly fancy, it had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I enjoyed it so much that I wished I had booked an extra night! I’ll definitely be staying here again—especially for longer visits in the future.

This was a great place to stopover for the night. The 1-bedrooms room was very spacious and clean and the king size bed was very comfortable, with another bed in the main living area if you have 4 people. This would be ideal for a couple with 2 kids. We didn’t use the kitchenette facilities but it would have been very nice to have on an extended visit. The checkin was flawless, we received a text telling us of the procedure. This may have been difficult if we didn’t have a US phone plan so an email a couple of days ahead of time with the checkin procedure would be nice as a backup notification for some people who may not have a cell phone. The office was closed when we arrived but there was a number to call on the office window if we had any issues, but we didn’t need to use it. It had the basics for cooking; but seemed very functional if we had used them. We would have no issues returning the next time we’re passing through Helena, excellent value and very nice functional room; nothing fancy but nothing wrong either.

Beware of HIDDEN FEES.

The suites are big, clean and comfy for the price. Beware of bait and switch, however, as they will try to collect ridiculous fees at the end, after you check out (the office is never open). We left key and paperwork in drop box, then they called to ACCUSE me of taking said room key (the the office was closed at checkout time).They left a message saying they would charge me for a locksmith, but when I called back to protest; the key had just magically appeared. Worse, this place is NOT “PET FRIENDLY” AS ADVERTISED. THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE $250 FROM YOUR CC, extra, and kick you out if you have a cat, because “Expedia won’t let them clarify what constitutes a pet when you book.” I am pretty sure their inexpensive room rates are a ploy to tack on any number and kind of charges after you leave. We could not find a valid business license for the Lamplighter Cabins and Suites in Helena, on the MonTana Secretary of State business search website. The whole time we were there I kept having a feeling they were hurting for $. Now I know why. Repeat biz is not their business strategy. Stay away.

There are very limited hours that you are able to contact a staff member if you need anything. There was an alarm clock going off in the neighboring room from 5 AM until after we left. We were unable to contact a staff member to go into the neighboring room to turn off that alarm clock which was extremely frustrating. The service would be much better if someone was available or on call to take phone calls of the guests. Also, our room was advertised as a king size on Expedia, but was only a queen size. Supposedly, they have tried to change that, but Expedia has not changed it for them.
