3 Siblings and their families enjoyed a week in this spacious and eclectic lakehouse. The rental description indicates there are 4 bedrooms on the second floor, this is a little misleading since one of those bedrooms is in a lofted area above the kitchen/dining/family great room- the space lacked privacy and sound barrier from the lower level so it was not an ideal place for our group to use as a bedroom-- we ended up using it a "napping" spot instead! The 3 bedrooms we used in the old/original part of the home fully met our needs and had plenty of retro-charm. The kitchen was well stocked, the butlers pantry convenient for extra storage and it was great to have a washer/dryer onsite. The seating in the living room was comfortable (couch and armchair) but there was not enough for all of us to sit at the same time (5 adults, 2 kids)- there was additional seating in the lofted area above and in the fireplace room on second floor if the group split up. The fireplace is huge and beautiful but due to lack of attention from prior groups/renters, we were allowed to burn only a duraflame log (TOTALLY understandable due to fire risk, but disappointing nonetheless). We enjoyed meals and games every evening at the well sized dining room table. There are wooden steps down to the waterfront (but more than 12 listed in the rental description) and we enjoyed wading and collecting rocks (Look for our "rainbow of Lake Superior")- bring your water shoes! The fire ring outside is great and we enjoyed a couple outdoor fires through the week. We spent the week reading, playing games, wading, hiking local trails, biking, visiting a local cidery and distillery, and shopping/exploring in Bayfield & Cornucopia (Ehlers General Store and the Fat Radish highly recommended!) Overall this property offers beautiful views of the lake from the yard and from the second floor deck and is very peaceful and quiet.
