The layout of the property is as described and is very nice for large groups. The land is gorgeous and the seclusion is nice. However, we did have several issues. The host sent a message prior to arrival with the door code, which thankfully I screenshotted because my mom was going to arrive at the property first and I sent her the info. However, he also sent a PDF with information on how to disable the alarm. First off, it’s very strange to set an alarm on a place where you know where you will have renters. But it’s easy to disable—IF you have the instructions. There needs to be a specific message sent out warning guests that you will lose all signal partway on the drive up the mountain. If you don’t save the PDF to your phone, there is no way to access the alarm instructions once you’re at the property. We had to drive all the way back down the mountain until we had signal again to get the information. The property was also not very clean. The oven and freezer both clearly haven’t been cleaned in some time. I wiped up a water spill on the floor on our first day and the paper towel came up black. We also saw two mice run across the floor and there were mouse droppings in multiple areas. The place has so much potential but there is room for improvement. Also, when I asked if there was an iron or blow dryer, the host wasn’t sure. Turns out they had both (which was great!) but if he had actually known, it would have saved us packing the extra items. We flew in.from Florida.
