Cute space, lake view nice, and great bunk roomFor the kids. Tricky shower situation. We were glad to be accommodated for a one night stay for our family group and that made all the difference, thanks to the owner for early access and flexibility.
One word Outstanding! To elaborate...If this is a place where you can create a home away from home. Too make memories for a lifetime! First time my wife and I had ever tried this other than our own house. Which is like 30 minutes away. We had kids and grandkids coming from out of state like many. We liked when it said this wasn't a party house. The reason becomes apparent as soon as you walk in the door. It's a Family House in a family neighborhood, (Perfect)! The View! The amenities! THE BEACH! Private and perfect for our little ones getting acquainted with water for first time! Its sandy! Its shallow! It's clear! Short of writing a Novel about how much we liked this place! We're booking it again for a repeat and to improve on our own family model! If you can't tell by now; we highly recommend it! The hosts are more than gracious! I GOD BLESS and we hope every family has the opportunity to experience what ours did!
Allen has the perfect property to accommodate your weekend, group getaway. He also is a clear communicator & nice host.We had a wonderful time at our college reunion.
This trip was absolutely amazing! The Unity Log Cabin has EVERYTHING you need. The check in process was seamless! The Owner communication was quick, timely and accurate! There are not enough good things I can say. Kitchen is completely set up for success. Bedrooms are clean, and well set up. Being on the water with 6 young kids ranging between 3 and 7 the water depth of the lake was a huge asset. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have stayed in such an amazing welcoming community!
Excellent stay!! Accommodated our family for a weekend wedding. Clean, well stocked especially for the kids & baby. All of the information was accurate & extremely detailed. Our host was gracious & very helpful. Will be returning hopefully for the next family trip to KNOX from Chicago
This place had more than enough space for our group of 15. It was well stocked with linens and kitchen stuff. We didnât need anything. The kids had a great time with access to the lake. Our host was very communicative.
The log cabin was very nice and felt just like home! There were plenty of extras left for us to use: toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, detergent, hand soap, games, books, blankets, nice small appliances, pots, pans, and cutlery. Iâve stayed at a lot of vacation rentals and this one had all the things we needed.
A few things to add: There is only one queen bedroom on the main floor and then a back room with two sets of bunk beds and a sofa bed. Up a steep flight of stairs are two full/queen bedrooms and one bedroom with a full and twin bunk bed set. These three bedrooms do not have full walls and are not private. It was ok for our group but was also hard for our kids to fall asleep if other family members were in the dining room playing a game or a family member that is a snorer. The bathrooms both had large steps to step up into the shower tub. Lastly, we rented a pontoon boat and were not able to tie it to the dock because the water is too shallow by the dock. We had to tie the boat to a bouy and walk through the lake to get to the dock. This was a challenge for one of our older parents and a pain to transport items to the boat. It is shallow enough to walk and the lake floor is made of sand. Just wanted to mention it as we paid a lot of money to rent the boat (from Bass Lake Rental) and it definitely hampered our use of the boat. If I would have known that information ahead of time, I probably would not have rented it. The neighbors do not like renters there.
Didn't know a lake like this existed right there! It was peaceful and just what we needed for a retreat. The houses are close together but that wasn't a problem for us. Plenty of room to spread out in the house and outside and seating outside was great. The inflatable mattresses that were part of the sleeping arrangements were pretty thin, wish we had known that so that we could have brought our own. However, it was one night so not a huge problem. Plenty of kitchen items (not always a guarantee in a rental) and seating. Loved it!
We had a great stay at Unity Cabin. The kitchen is well stocked and plenty of seating for our group of 10. We wanted to note that although VRBO lists a hot tub, there is no hot tub. This was unfortunate as it was a search criteria we were looking for when planning. The reviews are helpful to read and accurate. As noted by others, thereâs not a lot of privacy in the upstairs rooms and noise travels throughout the house. We were a mixed group and it was hard to find a good place for kids going to sleep earlier. The sleeper sofas are also - predictably pretty uncomfortable and likely need to just be retired or not presented as an option. Otherwise, everything was wonderful and communication with the host was easy.
We had a big family get together with all the nieces/nephews and it was great. So much to do around the property, accommodations were perfect, kids loved the bunk beds. It was so much fun.
This was the perfect place for a group of 5. All 5 bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen was very nice and had great cookware/appliances. Everything is clean and functional while still charmingly cozy. The Wi-Fi is good and the couches are comfy. We would absolutely stay here again.
Some advice: 1) Bring earplugs or a sound machine, especially if anyone is staying in the bedroom at the top of the stairs (it has a cutaway wall, and sound carries well). 2) The local grocery store is quite minimal and did not have some items we considered to be basic (asparagus, raspberries, logs of mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar), so plan ahead. 3) The stairs are a bit tricky/slippery and would be hard for someone with mobility issues.
We are a family of 9 adult siblings and spent 4 nights at the Unity Cabin on Bass Lake. Our experience in the cabin was comfortable and well supplied and stocked with what we needed for our stay. The views and porch could not have been more spectacular on the lake and well positioned on the lake for a quiet respite from the hustle and hectic normal lives of the city. We are grateful for small things like enough plugs for electronics, enough soap and shampoo and laundry supplies. Paper products of all sorts were a bonus keeping us from having to go to the store off property. We found the cabin in great order and quite clean.
Thank you for a wonderful sibling reunion. We highly recommend this property for anyone who is reading this. We are owners of 10 VRBO properties in Chicago and are extremely knowledgeable of what is takes to be an owner of a vacation property.
House has everything you would need inside. We had plenty of room.
This was my 1st VRBO experience and will continue to use this service over hotels.
I highly recommend this place with having such a beautiful home and access to the water.
I wish I would have read the reviews about the road
This lake house was beautiful, but I wish I would have read the reviews about the road the runs between the house and the accompanying beach! We had hoped to put floaties on our littles and allow them to run around, but couldnât do that with a road. It was very nerve wracking. Itâs a busy road, too.
Otherwise itâs a beautiful home. The steps to the back door arenât to code, which made it difficult for my elderly mother to access it without help.
The home is well-stocked and beds are quite comfortable. A/C works great. But, the water tastes âfunny.â We brought bottled water so it wasnât too big of a deal. Just something to note.
Make sure you have the access code to the lock box saved somewhere besides your phone. Cell service is spotty, but thankful for excellent WiFi.
Enjoyed our stay. The beds were bad especially the sleeper sofas but we used air matresses. There weren't any beach towels either. There is a road between the house and beach which isn't obvious in the pictures but we found out earlier and brought things to do in the water and on the beach. The lake has a long beach area so there is no need to worry about little kids. The kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated the two coffee pots!
We had 10 adults stay for a long weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and thought the lake was nice. Itâs all sand bottom, but very shallow. We could stand in the middle. They had several restaurants on the lake, which was cool. The neighborhood was nice, but it was clear that the neighbors next door were not partial to renters.
The house was nice, but the bedrooms were not really very private. The upstairs bedrooms were all open at the top so when one person is up, everyone can hear that person. The only there thing that was somewhat misleading is the lake is right across the street so if you have littles, beware. The cars donât go fast, maybe 15 mph, but itâs a high traffic area.
Make sure you read the fine print in terms of pricing for this house. Even though it claims to sleep in the 20s, it charges you for over 4 people per night. That adds up quickly. Also, comfortably, you could fit 12 adults in beds, otherwise you are sleeping on pull out couches and air mattresses.
Allen was very easy to work with and responded to any messages almost instantly. The house was well stocked with whatever you needed. It was clean and overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Overall, pretty solid family vacation. Bass lake had its advantages and disadvantage if your an avid boater.
You CANâT dock a boat or jet ski at this property. Itâs only 1-1.5 feet deep for about 400-600 yards from the dock itself. You must anchor at that depth and walk to the dock.
Very convenient for those with little kids as this provided a great play area and float/hangout area for adults.
House is much smaller than advertised and should be listed for around 15-16 people.
The lake itself is not setup for avid boaters that like to tube//ski/wakeboard or surf. Very shallow overall. Boat ramp is very unsatisfactory.
Owners were quick to respond and easy to deal with. Be careful of extra costs for groups over 4. Price doesnât adjust on website for number of people traveling so this will be added later.
We take an annual lake trip with a group of 12 and so bass lake was our choice this year! The cabin is very spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen as well as bathrooms and supplies where completely stocked. We usually have to bring additional towels, toilet paper, paper, towels, etc. but that was not the case here everything was plentiful. Check in and check out process was simple and good communication with owner. Shower and tub were difficult to maneuver because of high steps that some could not take. All in all very nice location. Clean beach area with water access. Would definitely stay here again.
