Pros: Great homey, spacious cabin with lots of nice views of the forest and sacramento river in their back yard. We were 3 aduls, 2 toddlers and 1 dog. This was first time our grandkids was in snow and they were very happy. Kitchen had plenty of spices and cooking utensils.
Cons: No dishwasher. I misread and thought there was one. Would not have rented. LOTS of handwashing for our family of 5. Dishes left by previouss tenant still dirty/greasy. Had to rewash. No toaster or toaster oven even tho it was listed. Downstairs remote missing. And the icemaker did not work. Jeff from VRBO said there wasn't any icemaker and did not believe me re. missing items and existence of an icemaker in the freezer. I also said there wasn't a dishwasher and he said it was in the kitchen.
The driveway was steep and the snow had turned to ice, too slippery to back out. We had to be towed out our first full day. We bought melting salt to create traction. If you go during winter, I recommend you bring some. Would have been nice if owner had some on hand or warned us ahead of time. We were cautioned about snowy conditions but not the steep driveway.
They charged us $300 for additional guests (capacity was 10 and we were only 5) Also charged us double fee for our dog, $300 vs $150. (we told Jeff at time of booking the number of people and we had a dog) VRBO host Jeff was rude and would not explain charges other than it was all listed on their billing at the time of booking and we paid it so too bad. We should have disputed it then. I frankly didn't pay attention, I just wanted to complete the booking quickly as part of our overall holiday planning depended on this rental and I didn't want to lose it. I shouldn't be penalized for being careless like that.
All in all, we did have a good time and the cabin itself was great.
