Wow, what an incredible experience.for us on our first trip to Costa Rica! The spectacular views and morning sounds of the forest from the balcony will be something we remember for the rest of our lives. The hosts were very accomodating with a later check-in after our flight was delayed and we appreciated them guiding us up to the property in the dark. The description of the drive up to the apartment is no joke. Even the 4WD Hyundai Tucson we rented was challenged by parts of the drive up. I would recommend a vehicle with higher clearance if it's an option. Thank you to the owners for sharing this special place with us. Also a big thank you to Adan (the father in the family living next door) who jumped in to assist when we found we had a flat tire on the morning of our departure. Highly recommend a stay here for a one of a kind experience!

Magical stay

We absolutely adored our time at Laughing Falcon. It was so serene. Sitting out on the balcony looking at the birds in the mornings was everything. We especially loved the Montezuma Oropendolas! The studio apartment was so charming. Management was very communicative and there were great recommendations for things to do in the area inside a binder in the apartment. We hope to be able to return to El Castillo someday and stay here if we do. We'll be recommending this lodging to anyone we know going to this area.

Off the beaten path!

It was a very unique and pretty property but was adjacent to the caretakers, whose outside property was not kept picked up. The inside of the studio apartment was neat and tidy but not impeccably clean. Great views of the Arenal Volcano and the place had beautiful flowers and landscaping. You have to drive up a very long and rocky drive to get there- no problem in a SUV 4x4 though. They provided coffee and towels, some toiletries, but there were no washcloths provided. The sheets and towels did not smell fresh, somewhat like sweat or dried in humid conditions. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Nice to be away from the touristy area of town.

Great stay in the middle of the jungle

The property is the last on the road with a great view to the forest. However it was not as lonely as we thought since there is another house slightly obscuring the view to the volcano on the same property. The studio was generally clean and furnishings are somewhat aged. A general deep cleaning everywhere would be nice. Augustin was very good with conversations from the beginning to the end. Overall it was a great stay in the middle of the forest.

The location was beautiful and quaint. the host was great in communication. The air in this location wasnt very cold but the host promptly adjusted our location by putting is in another location that was just as beautiful with a wonderful view.

Volcano get away

Every where you look from this property there is a beautiful view. Not just the volcano but also the jungle and the lake; absolutely stunning. We walked down the trail to Walden falls and it was our favorite part of the day. Don’t miss out on the local restaurant halfway down the hill. Fabulous food, people, and views. The bed was comfortable and the space was very comfortable for two people.

We actually didnt stay at this exact apartment due to not having 4WD (which is definitely required), but the welcome center was more than helpful. Since we didnt have the right car to get up the long rocky driveway, they put us in another apartment down the street with an arguably better view! it was clean, in a beautiful location with lots of birdwatching to do!

Fantastic secluded villa

The house had a beautiful jungle view and volcano view. The property also has a nice adventurous hike to a waterfall (where the owners provide mud shoes for convenience ) The long driveway would be a bit difficult without 4 wheel drive.but this was communicated to us well in advance.

Great stay

It was really a great stay. Every little thing was considered. The studio was perfectly equipped, quiet in a beautiful setting. There was even a small Christmas tree for us. The welcome from Welcome Center Explore El Castillo CR was also very friendly. Thank you for the great time. P.S. We managed the road without 4 wheel. It was okay with a car class 2 and a good driver. Fortuna/Monteverde is really really touristic. But the studio is away from all this. Don't mind to book.

Breathtaking!

The Laughing Falcon is the perfect spot for nature lovers and bird watchers! The view from the porch is spectacular with the rainforest and Arenal volcano in the background. There was enough to do and see around the Laughing Falcon that I could have stayed put all week between birdwatching, walking the mountain, hiking down to our personal waterfall, visiting the garden, and resting in the many great spots provided. But, we did venture out daily to visit nearby “attractions”. There are so many things to do within a 45 minute drive. The little book provided in our VRBO was very helpful in providing information about the location including where to buy groceries, the nearby activities, and what to look for on the property. The kitchen had just the right amenities for us to make meals. Our garbage was taken daily and mid week we were provided with clean towels and bedding. The host for this property was wonderful! He was very friendly and patient with us (we got there a bit later than anticipated). Throughout the week he was available at the Welcome Center for questions. There are only a few things I would say that could have made it even better. The bathroom could use an exhaust fan. There were some small details missing but nothing major. The tenants next door were sweet and helpful but there were some minor daily noise distractions. With that being said, we would definitely stay at this location again!

On the top of a large hill

We found this nice studio comfortable and with everything needed. Over the years we have stayed in many different hotels so we knew the area. Make sure you book Tabacon Hot springs it a must.

Wonderful view!

Had a great stay. Getting up to the property is difficult at night (but so worth it for the view). Make sure to pay attention or take notes when you follow the golf cart up after checking in. We felt safe and comfortable. Overall, a nice place.

Amazing view and great staff to work with.

We loved our stay. The staff was easy to talk to and answered any questions. We had the power kick off and when we talked to the property manager they reached out to the other locations nearby to see if they had lost it too. Power was restored within 15 minutes. The location was very clean and had mud boots to use on the hike down to the waterfall and streams.
