If you’re up for an adventure, this listing is for you!
We met Mathew at Exuma Markets in George Town where we grabbed some groceries and booze. He took us on his dinghy for the ~10 minute out to our home for the next few nights - a 30’ sailboat moored just off Chat n Chill. It’s really not far, so don’t worry about making a thorough grocery run. We got enough for a day or two. He showed us around the boat, which we needed since it was our first time on a sailboat - but don’t worry if you forget anything. He lives close by and is always happy to help. The galley is a well equipped “camp kitchen”, which we found to be perfect.
The location is incredible and the dinghy was one of our favorite parts of this VRBO. You can hop over to the Snappy Turtle, Chat n Chill or Peace & Plenty in two minutes - all great food and drink options. Aside from food, Stocking Island has some great hiking trails and some remote beaches - we literally saw no people for four hours when we went hiking on the ocean side.
Mathew helped us fill up the dinghy and gave us some guidance on getting to Moriah Harbor Cay, which isn’t a ride for the feint of heart - we may be new to 30’ sailboats but we have sailing dinghy and powerboat experience. There’s some “open ocean” and it takes some skill to navigate the sandbars, but we were up to the task and it was worth the beating we took.
Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. Mathew is incredibly attentive and we would love to come back!!
