We spent five nights at this property as the final stage of our trip down the PCH with the intention of seeing a bit of LA. We did look at the previous reviews and did a bit of research around the area and the proximity to the sights etc.
We had problems with the door lock. The host had advised us that it may stick and we spent a good 10 minutes trying to get in. I tried to ring him but the phone number was not in use, so I left a message but did not get any reply.
We did eventually manage to gain entry and found a very clean and tidy house. The fittings and furniture were quite dated but the kitchen had all of the facilities that we needed and was spotless.
The main living room was very basic with three vinyl fold down settee's which I imagine would make up the double beds if you were to bring 10 people to the property.
The back garden/yard was shaded by large trees, the BBQ was large and modern but was filthy and hadn't been used in ages. Likewise, the outdoor furniture was also filthy and unusable - we never used either, in fact we never opened the back door again.
The property is well located for Santa Monica (8 mins) and the other towns on the coast where we spent much of our time. We reached the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood in 30-40 mins.
We also thought that the security deposit was somewhat excessive which was taken at time of payment and was only returned two weeks after we had left.
A bit basic and not one to visit if you like lying in the sun.
Very nice little house, it was perfect for our short trip. Very close to the beach, quiet neighborhood. The host is very responsive and helpful, he even recommended great places to visit. I would definitely want to stay again. Thanks so much Ron for sharing your beautiful home with my family. đ
The house was just what we were looking for on our college campus tours around LA. Centrally located near the pier we enjoyed Venice Beach the Hollywood sign and the local eateries. It was big enough for our family of 5, I communicated with the owner when our flight landed and he let us come a little early when housekeeping was complete.
In 10+ years of using VRBO this was the one nightmare. There was no hot water. We were there for a 3 night stay, and since there was no hot water and they couldnât get it fixed on a Saturday we had to move to a hotel. I understand that water heaters go out, but the host never refunded the 2 nights that we had agreed on.
The beds in the bedrooms were really comfortable. My friends who slept on the convertible couches wanted me to share that they were very firm and, due to the seams in the middle, they had to sleep on one side. They would recommend to the owner to purchase three mattress toppers for these. Related, my friends thought the convertible beds would not work with two adults-too small; it easily would work with two kids and would possibly work with two teenagers. The property was very clean and in a safe neighborhood. There were plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels. The directions to the place and to gain entry were clear. I would recommend this property, especially if you have a large party.
We did not receive the checkin information beforehand so we had to reach out to the manager. Texted and called the manager with a phone reply shortly afterwards. He had to remotely open the lock and sent message through VRBO with all the info we needed to begin our stay. No big deal, little inconvenient. The house was clean and adequate for our little family overnight stay. Figuring out how to turn on the fridge meant another communication with the manager. The back yard was quaint but not usable without having to sweep it, as the furniture was dusty and covered with leaves. The neighborhood was quiet. A motorcycle sat awkwardly just next to the driveway causing us to work around it as we unloaded the vehicle. Another minor inconvenience. It was a comfortable stay. We left the place nearly as clean as we found it as we piled most of the bedding and all towels in the kitchen near the washer. Very convenient to the beach. We would stay there again.
Nice area and convenient to many great places but can not recommend due to numerous issues with the house. Falsely advertised for 10, 6 of the sleeping spots were for 3 very hard futons, 2 of which were broken. Floors were filthy, very uncomfortable beds and bedding very dusty, bathroom moldy. Temp sender on fridge was broken causing our groceries to freeze and become inedible. Owner was not responsive other than to ask us to fix fridge ourselves, buttons were broken so this didnât work. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
We had a very nice stay, the area was very nice and everything we needed was there! The house was very clean and the backyard was the perfect place to sit and relax.
Convenient location and very quiet, comfortable accommodation. The back yard could have used some preparation for guests, but otherwise, we were pleased.
We booked this home for a January weekend get away from Colorado to warmer weather in Santa Monica to visit friends living in Sawtelle. The host, Ron, was super helpful, flexible, and responsive. The home was perfect for our needs with the two bedroom, one bath layout. The beds are very comfortable and the common areas are great for hanging out and catching up with friends. This property is well situated for taking advantage of beach, shopping and fantastic restaurants nearby. We highly recommend and will look to book future vacations here.
10 of us decided to stay here for a quick weekend trip Santa Monica/LA. There were plenty of pillows, blankets, and towels to accommodate us. Neighborhood was nice, quiet, and close to the beach. If youâre staying here with 10 people Iâd highly recommend bringing an air mattress or two, just because the futons arenât the biggest. Having one bathroom was tough, but it was what we signed up for, and we made it work!
