7 Ladies who lunch

Pros: The area this hotel is in is excellent for seeing the sights and getting around the city by bus.
Cons: Having the air conditioning working you couldn’t stay in this hotel in the summer.
Location: The Teatro Real and Palacio Real are nearby. The city tour bus can be picked up near Plaza de Espana.
Having booked 4 standard twin rooms with views we got 3 twin and one double and all on different floors and all inner rooms with no city views. The rooms were all too hot due to air conditioning not working. The hotel ran out of white wine on the third day and wouldn’t be getting any more until the next week from their supplier. No cocktail menu available either.

Perfect to our needs

Lovely staff with very good local recommendations , and great facilities , walking distance to everything, we did not need to use metro or taxi.

“Great location, good, clean hotel but needs a makeover”

Location: Ideally situated near to 2 metro stations and just off the Gran Via with an abundance of bars and restaurants to choose from. To get our bearings we took the open top bus tour and discovered that practically all the major sights are within walking distance - we comfortably walked the bus route the next day. Hotel: Service was good and the public areas were clean. We opted for the buffet breakfast, which was quite expensive at €13 euros each but there was a good selection including boiled eggs, bacon, sausages plus all the usual continental fayre. There isn't a bar although there are vending machines including one that dispenses wine in the lobby. Room: we booked a Privilege room that included a free mini bar (soft drinks only), nespresso machine, bath robes, slippers and a balcony. The room was fairly large and had an entrance hall which separated the bedroom and the bathroom and was excellent for storage of luggage, boots etc. The double glazing was very effective at reducing the road noise to an absolute minimum. Although air conditioned, we found the room to be very hot still. The bathroom was well equipped with a good shower and a good selection of toiletries. The bed was super king size and extremely comfortable as were the pillows. All in all the hotel offers good value for money and is in a great central location but it is dated, the wall paper has seen better days and could do with a makeover, however it is clean and I would definitely stay here again.
