Absolute terrible experience. Some friends and I rented this house 11/8/22-11/13/22. A few days prior to arrival, we learned that hurricane Nicole was supposed to hit Marsh Harbour on 11/8/22. The owner did not offer to delay our arrival or reimburse us. I understand they cannot control the weather, but I was hoping they would try to work with us, due to the circumstances. Two days prior our arrival, I confirmed with the owner that we would be arriving on 11/8/22 around 1:00pm. When we arrived, the owner’s staff members were in the house cooking themselves lunch and were totally surprised to see us. They laughed and said that they did not think we were coming anymore, because of the storm, even though I confirmed with the owner. The house was totally unprepared for us. All of the outdoor furniture was stacked in the living room and kitchen. Later that evening, the hurricane hit. The windows, doors, and roof leaked severely. The bottom floor was ankle deep in water. We had nine adults on the trip and four of them could not sleep in a bed, due to the first floor being unusable and flooded. Four men slept on the tile floor upstairs. We went without electricity, running water, or air conditioning for two days. We informed the owner of the situation and he said we were lying and there was not water in the home. During the storm, we did everything we could to limit the damage to the house. The owner was completely unappreciative and was the rudest host I have ever dealt with. He threatened to kick us out of the house, in the middle of a hurricane, because we left coconuts sitting on his outdoor concrete countertop. The owner verbally threatened us, cussed at us, and spoke inappropriately to us on several different occasions. After an argument with the owner, one of his employees came to the house wielding a very large knife. We felt completely unsafe and endangered the entire trip. The staff members would show up unannounced and just walk in the house. One day I was changing clothes in the master bedroom. I looked outside and one of the employees was watching me change. We felt like we were being watched the entire trip and had zero privacy. We were truly scared of the owner. Due to the events, I requested that the owner reimburse me for the two nights that we did not have running water, electricity, or air conditioning. The owner refused to do so. We paid a lot of money for the house and felt that it was a total scam. Do not rent from this host!
