This is a wonderful house for a large group - spacious, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, great location, good parking. It retains many of the features of an older house - stained glass, beautiful lounge fireplace etc . HOWEVER, our stay was marred by 3 issues. 1) The house was freezing when we arrived (mid-winter in Masterton is cold) and the 2 large heat pumps took 12-18 hours to get the temperature to comfortable (not hot). We felt these heaters should have been on before we arrived. 2)We found only 8 towels ( there were 11 of us). In communicating with the host after our visit she stated there were 29(!!) towels in the linen cupboard. We never found this cupboard. Most Bookabach house put towels on the beds and in bathrooms.3) The door to the pantry had a lock which engaged when door was closed but no key. We rang the host who said there was no key(??) and we would need to get a locksmith. We needed access to the pantry as we has food, and an expensive multi-cooker in there. That visit by locksmith cost us $70.00. This problem needs to be rectified - either remove lock altogether or provide the key. There could have been a child trapped in there. Unfortunately we found the host unhelpful over our concerns.
