Our family stayed here for 2.5 weeks in December 2020. Both Laurence and Matt (property management team) used great efforts to address any issues with quick responsiveness and open communication. However, the house is in disrepair and has been very poorly maintained. As a result, we spent a portion of 7 different days of our vacation waiting at the house for maintenance people to fix problems.
Not only was the house in a highly unacceptable state, but it was not in the condition represented in the listing or worth near the amount of money we paid for the rental. Some examples include: the “heated” swimming pool never worked throughout the duration of our stay, no “hot tub” (as was listed at the time we signed our agreement) , no A/C in 4 of the bedrooms, no hot water in 2 bathrooms for the first few days, pull-out trash cabinet in kitchen was broken and laying on the kitchen floor, oven was not working, stove top burners were not properly functioning, one of the freezers was broken, nearly 50% of all the lights/light fixtures were not working upon our arrival, no way to secure exterior gates except for using our own bungie cords, nails were protruding from the threadbare carpeting, poor quality of bed linens/blankets/pillows, 2 doors leading from kitchen to pool area did not open, and cockroaches appeared 4 different days during our stay.
Not only was the home in unacceptable condition, but the owner (not the property management company) had the property falsely listed. The description of major components of the house were not at all true. The high price we paid for the home listed on the Vrbo site, in the condition of that listing, was NOT AT ALL what we received. If a listing this inconsistent with the reality of the house could be considered “false advertising”, this situation fits that description perfectly – and sadly.
We have rented homes through numerous home rental platforms over the years, and this has been by far the worst experience. Finally, just to ensure that everyone and anyone who responds to, reads or questions our review of this property receives a 100% accurate assessment, we have a copy of every written correspondence between us and the property management company to ensure the facts are documented and that any reply to our review is not misleading. We are glad to share this feedback if there is any question about the authenticity of our review or the condition of the house.
