Upon arrival at the the Cottage, we were locked out. According to the owner, the housekeeper didn't remember to check the batteries in the door lock. The owner was quick to get a maintenance man over to change the batteries but as it turns out, we were locked out again later than evening when we returned from dinner. The owner apologized and realized she had the wrong dates in the database for the locking system. The home, overall is livable and worked for our very short stay of 3 nights and two full days. However, the housekeeping needs held to task. There were spiders in every nook and cranny, the towels smelled like mildew and the shower curtain was moldy. Since this is a renovated barn to house, A/C has been added after the fact and there are no fans to circulate it. Since two of the bedrooms are side by side for adults, keeping the doors shut for privacy resulted in very hot rooms as the A/C is situated in a hallway. The bathroom has no vent at all and is situated right next to the kitchen making smells coming from the bathroom to the kitchen awkward at best. We used one of the tables upstairs, as the table downstairs only has 3 chairs and there were four of us. We did not use the washer/dryer as we could see along the side of the dryer that the vent hose had been disconnected from the outside exhaust and the heat would circulate back into the cottage. This house would not be comfortable at all for eight people (of any age); it was taxing for four adults.
