Lovely Stay, Even in the Rain
Lovely, lovely stay. It all started with some very thorough, easy to follow directions from Patrick; we had no issues finding the site. The yurt itself is very cozy, made cozier by the simulated fireplace heater and the exceptional space heater. One downside was the middle zipper of the outer flap was not functional, but the zippers at the bottom of the dual tent flap worked just fine and some velcro (while maybe needing reinforcement) allowed for the flaps to stay closed even with high gusts of wind.
The particular day/night we visited a storm front was moving through Colorado with high wind speeds and the typical inconsistent bouts of rain. The yurt was a perfect shelter, it was warm, cozy, dry, and sturdy. As it never fully stopped raining or was too windy, we unfortunately couldn't enjoy the firepit or grill, making the microwave and induction hotplate more than opportunely handy.
One thing that makes this place so special to me is the toilet and sink provided on the sight maybe 15 steps from the yurt. As a healthcare worker it almost feels relieving and calming to wash my hands with actual soap and water, again, made easy and accessible.
This site is perfect for two people (maybe four if you don't mind close quarters and know your friends well) meandering and exploring the beauties of Colorado. You can't beat the proximity to the Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls, and other natural beauties. It's a fun, convenient, cozy, and unique stay, I would not hesitate to bo
