Positives: The apartment itself is at the back of a house which has been converted into a triplex. The photos of furnishings are accurate. It’s beautifully decorated, historic. If you don’t mind a walk, location is fine. Museums are nearby, about half a mile. Riverwalk or French Quarter, 2-mile walk.
Negatives: The shower handle in the master/downstairs bathroom was broken, so it was nearly impossible to turn the shower on and once we did, we couldn’t control temperature. Impossible to shower upstairs for adults as no one above 4-feet tall can stand in the loft. By far, the most frustrating part of the stay, due to which we checked-out early, is that an outdoor light from the neighboring house shines directly into the downstairs bedroom and flickers on/off every three seconds. All night long. Despite a shade in the window, it was impossible to sleep. Unfortunately, no one on the sofa bed or in the loft could sleep either, as the 6-foot long living-room window faces the interior of the adjacent apartment, so when the neighbors came home and turned on their lights at 1AM, the light shone directly into the living room and loft, which has no door. When I contacted the host about the shower, she offered to send someone next day. When I told her about the lighting issues and how impossible it was to sleep, she never replied. I realize it’s an issue with neighboring properties but it greatly impacts the quality of the stay to the point that we left and lost money.
